18,000 light years away, this object is hardly close, and certainly no threat,If we were approaching this object at 1/1000th of the speed of light, which is not a high velocity at all, we would collide with the black hole in 18 million years, which is a mere blip in geological time. So, this may not be a threat, but you cannot say that no object 18,000 light years away is a threat.
