Jared Golden represents Maine’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
After the first presidential debate, lots of Democrats are panicking about whether President Joe Biden should step down as the party’s nominee. Biden’s poor performance in the debate was not a surprise. It also didn’t rattle me as it has others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.
(snip)
Congress will need to stand up to economic elites and so-called experts in both parties who are already working overtime to stop Trump’s proposed trade policies that would reverse the harms of globalization and protect American businesses from unfair foreign competition.

If I were cynical, I'd say he was reading the room correctly and trying to get the proverbial mask (that Uniparty types have used most of my adult life) back on with the aim of sticking it to his constituents later, and working to subvert from within the gates.
On the other hand, this may be a genuine article.
Checking his actual voting record would probably be a good indicator. Thoughts?
Yeah, no way the Dems will rig the election. Again.
Kamala can not overcome the margin of fraud, Trump will win.
He may win, but if he does, we can expect certain violence. Will we do anything about it?
“Congress will need to stand up to economic elites and so-called experts”
Yeah, because... Congress has done so well, thus far, at “standing up to economic elites and so-called experts”.
“Checking his actual voting record would probably be a good indicator.”
Or... checking who he donates to. Looks like he’s a rat supporter.

Uh, yeah.
Agree, but they at least want to throw a hail mary vs. a Biden fumble on his own 1 yard line.
The one good thing about letting Harris step in and lose is getting her out of the way for 2028.
Yep, the focus for the dems thanks to their mismanagement of this Biden collapse is they can potentially compete in 2028 w/o kamala in the way.
yep, a brand new field of candidates. But if Biden runs and loses, Harris will run and be the presumptive nominee insuring whoever the Republican is wins in 2028 and guaranteeing we get to replace 1 or more of the libs on the court :)

That’s a pretty safe bet.
I’m sure he didn’t vote to impeach Mayorkas and he probably voted to send 60 billion to Ukraine. That being said, Trump should make overtures to these types of Dems who represent MAGA districts. This is how you build a coalition and don’t have to rely on RINOs who want to play king maker.
“Not 100% sure what to make of this. He sounds level headed”
Did the oath of office get changed? The president swears to uphold democracy?
Oh goody, all the anxiety has evaporated. The other good news is that Wall Street will reach record highs, inflation will disappear and gas will drop to $0.30 per gallon. Vote the senile one or forever be sorry /s. Life is good.
Maine is one of two states that splits its Electoral Votes by Congressional district. Maine CD-2 is the one that has been voting Republican in the last few election cycles.
