Have been checking this question out online and not getting very far. Older FR posts from 20 years ago pull up on the search, ostensibly discussing ping lists and offering them, but this gets confusing the deeper I drill down, no guidance as to how to actually identify, access, or even create one. Some of the postings go back to the early 2000's. Looks like they are trying to be helpful but I can't make heads nor tails of the links they offer. Am stumped. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong and how to do it the right way would be appreciated. Seems like some of you are expert at creating your own ping lists so there must be a body of knowledge out here on this subject that completely eludes me.

Invite FReepers to join your PING list.
FReepers guard their PING lists so no one can do mischief with them. You have to generate your own or ‘inherit’ one from a FReeper on an established thread.
Click on your flag to access the ping list of known Floridians by virtue of their flag on their homepage.
We had a great one run by Joe Bower (sp?) but he may have left over all the attacks against DeSantis, as I haven’t seen him in a while.
I have the Alabama ping list. But, I don’t do a good job. If anyone from this state would like to take it over, just let me know.
Well I did just that, and judging by the screen names I saw (and recognized from being online with them), they seem to be loosely organized around one or two “favorites” who shine whenever the weather gets bad. I once tried to start a thread on an impending storm down here and was promptly “crucified” for not deferring to the supposed owner of that topic. As a matter of fact the acolytes even posted directions on my thread redirecting anyone who accessed it over to the real deal and even posted a link. Goes to show the level of political and social corruption we have in Florida.
Actually the names were not on a ping list just shown consecutively with different posting dates, but all in the State of Florida.
I’ve noticed that, too.
Click for Members List] option.
If you click on that you can create a message. If anyone has a problem with you sounding an alarm for warning them of a coming storm, ignore them. You are doing them a favor with the waring.
I have nothing to do with Florida but I wouldn’t mind a Florida Man ping list. :)
You probably found this out of date list https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1811878/posts which will likely lead to a lot of dead ends.
Best bet is to find something that has been pinged out, and contact the pinger to get on the list.
As far as Florida goes, look for stories with a Florida tag, and see if anyone is pinging them out. If not, advertise that you are setting up a Florida ping list on them, and mention it in the Florida chat.
There’s a lot of political and systemic corruption in Hillsborough County and the Tampa Bay Area and I would like to focus on those problems. I don’t usually see our region’s issues exposed on Free Republic. In years past we had a very influential daily newspaper here which regularly exposed wrongdoing by elected and appointed officials. But since that paper’s deliberate demise orchestrated by leftwing advertising dollars flowing to opposing publications supportive of the left, the bad actors have taken over, and there is no one, and nothing with which to spread awareness of their destructive influence.
I have given over the handling of the Florida ping-list to FReeper ‘Recovering_Democrat’.
Yes, funny this subject should come up as Joe and I have corresponded this week about Florida news. If you want your name added or have a Florida story, let me know and I will try to carry on the great work Joe did for many years.
Good afternoon RD. I’ve been on here many years as well. And forty years in Florida. How about some advice in keeping with the topic at hand? Or do you just not care for competition. Cliques be goin.
