Doubtful Gibson could have hit .372 had he been allowed to play MLB. That’s something we’ll never know and because of that, he should not have been elevated above Cobb. Just more virtue signaling.

Should we also allow Japanese League players in the record books?

No one alive today has ever seen Cobb or Gibson actually play.

As we know, negro league stats aren’t complete or accurate.. especially when comparing to a different league of players.

This is goofy.

We had a kid - Tommy Austin, in our little league. He played circles around every other player. Should HE also be included?

Is Ty Cobb now the second greatest hitter in Negro league history?

One of my favorite players - Luke Easter. Loved to play and did until
he simply couldn’t any more.

MLB stats knew damn well the negro leagues didn’t keep reliable stats.Read the Wikipedia article on Josh Gibson. To put negro league players in the MLB record books is a travesty.

Just another reason not to bother with MLB.

After being an avid baseball fan for 30+ years, I gave it up during the strike.

This DEI nonsense does not encourage me to reconsider.

As MLB changes its records, Josh Gibson, not Ty Cobb, is all-time batting leader

In that case... as a younger man I played in a basketball league where I scored more points than Pete Maravich or Caitlin Clark.. so therefore, that RECORD belongs to me and should be changed! /s
