A US veteran who fought in Ukraine said many Western fighters assumed it would be easy. He said some "treat it almost like it's a vacation, and they're not really expecting to die." Many foreigners won't accept that their training hasn't prepared them for this war, he said. Advertisement Some Western fighters who joined the war in Ukraine have been killed because they assumed the fight would be easy, a US veteran who fought in Ukraine told Business Insider.
The veteran, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said a lot of foreign veterans who came to Ukraine to fight against Russia's invasion had been used to fighting at an advantage and struggled to adapt to the conditions there, where they were often outmanned and outgunned.
"A lot of Westerners that come to Ukraine, they want to be heroes," he said. "I just kept seeing dudes that would go out to Ukraine, and they treat it almost like it's a vacation, and they're not really expecting to die."

They should read up on the Siege of Sevastopol to get an idea of what Ivan is capable of before they go over there to fight.
How many? Is this a few dozen, hundreds, or thousands? How many Americans? How many injured or killed?
Let me get this straight. When you go into a war isn’t the possibility of getting killed part of the deal.
I’ll take my chances playing in the traffic.
510 confirmed by obituaries in the Ukrainian media, maybe twice that many MIA.
The reddit limp wrist brigade hilariously failed.
But at least those larpers had the guts to go themselves, our war mongers in forum want the rest of us to go -kids and all- for their war adventure.
That’s what irks me. The goal of dragging every NATO country into this stupidity.
Canada out of NATO now !

We’re certainly not going in a peaceful direction,
“Same, watching them smugly snark at everyone over it.
And they don’t care about the reality of what their holy grail of war entails.”
Some of them are bloodthirsty and downright crazy.
I noticed that too.
The true believers who “eat up” Anglo-American propaganda-information are often on the “short end of the stick.”
I admire their courage, but they’re fools, fools who are dying for foreigners & a foreign cause, which has no relevance to the security position of the United States.
1)Western Hemisphere
2)Asia
3)Middle East
4)Europa
This is the list of regions that I’d go to war for, if The United States is threatened by a foreign power.
The first two regions are way more important than regions 3 & 4.
It was the Russians who thought it would be easy because they packed their parade uniforms.
You can get an accurate tally from the Telegram Channel “Track a Nazi Merc”
A whole lot of dead mercenaries. Some did it for money, via the US taxpayer funded contracts, some did it because the CIA reprogrammed their fear/hate matrix to actually think it would be fun to fight Russian artillery with small arms, and some because they saw the Ukrainian propaganda commercials of models holding airsoft guns and they thought they’d get lucky.
I think that is an apt comparison. Fighting for a romantic cause.
It’s obvious they DID NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. 😀
