The RD-180 used in the Atlas V first stage is not "vintage" but new production. There is a company that was building boosters with vintage engines left over from the Soviet lunar program. They tended to blow up. Those are the only American rockets using Russian hardware. The rationale for buying the RD'180 was to keep the Rusdian rocket engineers from going to work for North Korea or other bad actors.

No, all we had was the Shuttle, Titan III, Titan IV, Delta II, III, and IV, Atlas in various versions, etc. The Shuttle by itself lofted most of the ISS.
