Ivan F. Boesky, the flamboyant stock trader whose cooperation with the government cracked open one of the largest insider trading scandals in the history of Wall Street, has died at the age of 87.
A representative at the Marianne Boesky Gallery, owned by Ivan Boesky’s daughter, confirmed his death. No other details were given.

If it is common knowledge in Hollywood that this film was based on Boesky’s lived experience, I would think the movie studio must have paid him very well for that privilege.
Making and closing deals was his way of life.
I’d like to see the same obit title for Nazi Pelosi.
I heard him speak at my sister’s graduation from Cal business school back in 1986. Greek Theater, Berkeley.
And Schwartz Gyorgy.
Interesting guy.
Absolutely!! I always wondered how much he walked away with in his pockets from the property he confiscated while working for the Nazis as a young boy. The claims are he was broke when he went to London and entered school. I say BS. His father was a Hungarian lawyer and eventually ended up in New York and worked as an arbitrage trader. I don't believe George was ever broke.
What did he do that was different from Pelosi?
Why did society say Boesky was bad, but Michael Milken was great?!
As one who worked at Drexel Burnham in NY, I can answer that at length if desired, and EASILY SO. Drexel Burnham was a great place to work, even if you were back office, accounting, etc. I started there in 1982 in the accounting department.
Starting pay nothing special, but when times were good, large bonuses to us. I got 13 weeks in my third year. To this day, Giuliani is my least favorite Republican, after he perp walked Timothy Tabor, who was never even CHARGED with anything. Giuliani was a piece of shit who climbed to the top on the backs of a lot of hard-working, innocent people.
Boesky vs Pelosi
Boesky used Milken
Pelosi is a crook, but won’t admit it.
Boesky admitted insider trading, after the bell on a Friday. Knocked the market silly Monday morning.
Milken was never charged with insider trading, because he WAS the market, one he invented from a tiny thing. Milken was convicted of a technical term called parking, holding a position for someone else to conceal who the owner was.
I never worked for Drexel, but I pretty much agree with you.
Michael Milken was and is a great man. When Rudolph Giuliani got prostate cancer, it was Milken, himself a stage-4 prostate cancer survivor, who helped him recover.
Why are you comparing Pelosi and Boesky?
I knew several people who worked there, including one who lost a lot of family money. My cousin was also working onsite there from their accounting firm, and had to leave Manhattan in a few days.
The WTC in the background there adds to the theme of things no longer with us.
It was a reply to a poster who asked the difference
