A Russian military airfield in Crimea has caught fire for a second night in a row, according to new reports, after Moscow said Ukraine had launched consecutive long-range strikes on the Russian-controlled peninsula.
The Belbek airfield, close to the port city of Sevastopol on Crimea's western edge where Russia bases its Black Sea naval fleet, is "on fire again," Russian independent news outlet Astra reported on Thursday.

“It’s getting harder and harder to pretend the war in Ukraine, now in its third year, is about “defending democracy,” as our political elites in Washington insist. This is especially true when Secretary of State Antony Blinken shows up in Ukraine to deliver billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund the war, proclaims that Ukraine’s scheduled presidential elections this spring are canceled until “conditions allow” (Ukraine has not held elections since 2019), and then jaunts off to a popular Kyiv nightclub to play a boomerish cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” That actually happened this week.” ~Jason Walsh
Jason Walsh is an idiot. At the same time Russia launched a huge invasion of Ukraine in a new front, still bombarding across all of Ukraine with missiles and suicide drones, with millions of Ukrainians in other countries as refugees, dense Walsh is wondering why Ukraine cannot hold presidential elections across the whole country.
Hitting targets outside your country while your forces keep losing ground inside your country is not a winning strategy.

“Martial law has been in effect since February 24, 2022”
Sounds like Democrats, “democracy,” eh!
The real problem with holding presidential elections in Ukraine right now is that Ukrainians might vote to end the war.
Almost 70% of Ukrainians think that President Volodymyr Zelensky should remain in office for the duration of martial law, and elections should be postponed until it is lifted, according to a survey released on Feb. 20 by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology
It is a helpful strategy if one of your enemies principal tactical weapons is its air force. Attacking their nearby bases and aircraft is a necessity.
The UK was under the same sort of regime in WW2.
It was a coalition cabinet under Churchill and no elections were held from 1940-45. The last general election was in 1935. The election due in 1940 was skipped.

IF that was true, there would be elections. It is a lie, so there isn’t.
"In the event that the term of authority of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expires while martial law or a state of emergency is in effect, its authority is extended until the day of the first meeting of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine , elected after the cancellation of martial law or of the state of emergency.
Some people are dense. Today's headlines from Ukraine:
Ukraine faces countrywide power outages as electricity deficit worsens
One civilian killed and 4 more injured in Russian airstrike on Kherson Oblast – photos
Russians strike Donetsk Oblast, injuring six miners
Battles rage in Ukraine as Russian forces advance in Kharkiv region
You're conveniently ignoring the rest of my post: Article 19 of Ukraine’s martial law legislation specifically forbids conducting national elections. The presidency is a national election.
You have to read Ukraine's martial law legislation.

Ukrainians even if they voted to end the war and all military laid down their weapons and went home could not stop the war. Russia would still invade the Country. Many leaders and military leaders would be killed. Ukraine would become a slave state of Russia. Russia would take all of Ukraines wealth and then proceed to attack another country.
Wouldn’t surpprise me if it happened, here, this fall.
