Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced that the main event in the relationship between Russia and China in 2024 will be Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to China. The announcement came at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Subjects of the Russian Federation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Lavrov emphasised that the visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as reported on the ministry’s official website, TV BRICS reported.
“The main event of bilateral relations this year will be the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the People’s Republic of China,” Lavrov stated.
Lavrov also revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia in October to attend the BRICS Summit in Kazan.

Since the 1960’s, US strategy has been to try to separate Russia and China, and play them off against each other.
Now, NeoCon antics drive them together into a tighter and tighter alliance.

Putin’s principal ally, China, has 10 times the population of Russia and an economy 10 times Putin’s. Furthermore, China holds on to ancestral claims to Russian territory in the Far East, which caused a border clash between the two countries in 1969.
Putin may see this visit as a now-or-never moment to stop the decades-long attrition of Russian territorial and national power.

On arrival in Beijing, Blinken was greeted by Yang Tao, Director General of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry. No red carpet, no band. No group of high ranking officials.
