Spent all morning in lieu of TikTok ban laughing my ass off at these kooky flat-earth types like this bro. Can’t believe how prevalent this stuff is. Are these people serious? Apparently yes. I bumped into a lady the other day who was clearly influenced by it, jabbering about how space and even Australia is fake, which would be news to my Australian neighbors and brother who lived there. Not one for conspiracy theories, but this has to be conscious effort by China to turn Americans into child-like idiots. It’s fascinating how they twist “critical-thinking” and “doing their own research” into passionate support for absurd, quixotic (literal) world view. Truly frightening because if you believe the earth is a snow globe formerly populated by giant men, you’ll believe just about anything the ChiComs shovel your way. I’m sure there at least a couple firmament Freepers who will point out that I’m just an agent of Satanic NASA. These folks are long gone.

I have a friend who went to prison, was there for several years, and came out a flat-earther. He’s all the time posting about it on Facebook. He knows I’m a lifelong astronomy nut (with an interest in science in general), he hasn’t tried convincing me personally. I just leave him alone, and pray that he’ll be convinced about the sphere we live upon. Maybe someday he’ll come to his senses. In the meantime I’m just mystified that anyone could be a flat earther in this day and age.

I’ve got a good friend, maybe my best ever looking back on it now, he lives in Texas and I live north of him ..very far.

I haven’t seen him in…decades. He went into drugs so we parted , moved, he became very successful in a very odd way (dogs).

Anyway he is a great guy, and has amazing common sense but since he has no formal education he believes in all that rot: Flat Earth, chemtrails, mind control etc.

I think it was the late 80s or early 90s when I first heard of these people but I might be lying. There was someone on the news representing some flat earth club, "The Flat Earth Society" maybe? Wherever this guy was there were a bunch of people gathered around. As the reporter asked the questions the representative would answer and this would elicit responses from those standing by. As his answers got more ridiculous, the crowd became more agitated and the more worked up they got the harder it was for this guy to not break up laughing.

It was obvious to me that this particular "spokesman" was having a go at the normies that considered themselves so well educated. I poked around a bit considering joining this little club and the people I spoke to at the time were really enjoying the whole situation. I never did go to any meetings or anything.

Its really unfortunate that something so fun became so serious for some. Then again there are people that will believe almost anything even things like anthropogenic global warming or that the Bushs are real stand up gentlemen.
