After only reading the headline, I’d guess they found a severed horse head…
That was a disappointing story
I thought “unsettling discovery” would mean they found a satanist convention in the basement, or a cursed ancient indian burial-ground on the site.
Was Joe Biden under the bed?
Well that was a waste of my time.
I would have checked for hidden cameras
With a large group of 7 or 8 single ladies, they should have rented a few rooms in a hotel
Why put yourself, your mother and several minors in such an unpredictable spot? It should not matter that the group was female, not in year 2024, but it does. Actually, for any group that large, renting in an established business is going to be smarter.
‘Rural Lexington” is not so Rural anymore. It’s the 2nd largest city in Ky.
I remember a few years ago they had a murder, a senseless killing where a person was in their car and someone snuck up and killed them for no apparent reason. It was a ghetto thug if I recall.
Sure this does not compare to mega cities like NYcCbut still not exactly your grandpas Lexington:

A well placed, cheap, game camera would have answered a lot of questions here. I carry one when I stay in rentals, as has been said...someone else always has a key.

I found it interesting that the journalist writing this story did not identify and contact the rental owner and ask if this had been a problem in the past. Has the local PD had similar calls to this rental? Has criminal activity been reported from this address in the past?
I guess it is possible that one of the girls decided to play a prank based on the initial wariness of the group after arriving and finding the door open and then was embarrassed to ‘fess up after it was taken so seriously and cops were called.
What of the two vehicles found in the garage?
As an old boomer, there are at least 2 things I will never do; let a stranger deliver cooked food and stay in some stranger’s house. To me they are both crazy.
Decades ago on my earliest trips to England I visited many little towns and stayed in houses that had handmade cardboard B&B signs posted on the front gate. I would never stay in an Airbnb in modern times - and that includes England too!
They were probably Louisville fans and they deserved worse than what they got.
I have read somewhere that there are neighborhoods where people get really pissed off that a homeowner has turned a house into a airbnb.
Since nothing was taken and nobody hurt, it could be people around there trying to scare away visitors and make it where nobody wants to stay there.
AirB&B is the perferct business for pervy voyeur types.
I suppose hotels could have the same issues but the number of staff increase the risk of getting caught.
The indians called Kentucky that “dark and bloody ground” for a reason, which is why they never rented Airbnbs there.
