America’s diner may always be open, but it’s permanently closing a location that’s fed generations.
Denny’s has closed its location in Oakland, California after 54 years due to high crime in the city.
The restaurant was located at 601 Hegenberg Road. In a company memo shared with local outlets, Denny’s said the decision was not one taken lightly.
“However, the safety and well-being of Denny’s team members and value guests is our top priority,” the company said. “Weighing those factors, the decision has been made to close this location.”
The company retains a Bay Area location at 1776 Powell St. in Emeryville, California.
The closing comes after In-N-Out announced it would be closing its Oakland location in March due to rampant violent crime and theft.
It marked the first time in the chain’s 75-year-old history that it has been forced to close one of its restaurants.

Ever so slowly the lights are going out in California as it completes its transformation into Communism.
It’s a cascading collapse of commerce in Oakland...the communist mayor is getting what she wants.
Or maybe due to the terrible food?... Oh couldn’t be that, they should have done that 40 years ago.
The ‘Africanization’ of America, ushered in by crime wave after crime wave...
People better start waking up.
It's on the other side of I-880 from the In-N-Out that is closing.

Back in the 1990s...I probably went to a Dennys at least once a month. I went overseas for a decade, and moved back in 2010. First weekend back...I went to a Dennys in Arlington, VA. Total disappointment.
Two months would pass and I tried another Dennys...same disappointment in quality. Haven’t stepped into one for ten years now.
Oakland has been a sewer for a very long time.
There was just a thin blue line of police holding things together
It’s just that the Democrats opened the floodgates
I ate at a Denny’s for breakfast in 1990, I went back for dinner the same day, and it was permanently closed. The franchisee filed bankruptcy between breakfast and dinner. One of my friends’ brother was a disher and he said that he got 1/4th of his last paycheck. Of course, he was living with his parents (17 and a senior in high school, so it wasn’t as bad for him as others.)
Denny’s used to be called Sambos.
Their mascot/logo was a big lipped high tone “darkie boy” in a checkered apron.
Their great sign was him running with a stack of pancakes on a platter held overhead.
Denny’s has also paid millions in settlements for “disrespecting” blacks over the years.
Most famous case was a group of black FBI agents who waited for their orders, while others were served.
Suing Denny’s then became a cottage industry.
In St. Louis, we had the failed Pruitt-Igoe housing situation. The rules were that families could not have a male head-of-household living with them. Men had to sneak in to see their own families.
It wasn’t long before crime got so bad that first responders, whether police, firemen, and EMTs, were recipients of bricks and firebombs being dropped on them from above. Naturally, they stopped responding, and crime exploded even more, Everything eventually went down the toilet hole.
It destroyed the family unit, along with the Great Society program. Democrats truly ruin everything they touch.
Welcome to the new post-Rhodesia Zimbabwe 2.0.
“It’s a Long Way to Mukumbura”
I’m sure NPR will devote an entire segment ro it.
Their coffee was usually stale but everything was pretty good.
the project's problems were widely attributed to architectural flaws...
Dad's not allowed? Free stuff without having to earn it? Of course it failed but to a willing idiot liberal they find a completely bogus excuse!
It’s almost like they did that exact thing on purpose. As if they had a plan. I mean, if one didn’t know any better.
Right?
And I thought Denny’s was on the black folks’es boy cotton list.
