The Golden Globe Awards have had 81 years to get it right, but they still can’t figure out how to pull off a successful show.
Just when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did. The show Sunday night was boring, sloppy and poorly executed in every way. After being rejected by several celebrities that refused to host the show, the Golden Globes landed on Jo Koy, who opted to berate the celebrity-studded audience instead of entertain them. The producers also seemed to think it would be fun to create a maze by crowding the stars into the room as if holding them hostage, with barely any space to walk. Award show season has officially kicked off with a fail.
The show drew in a slew of famous actors, producers, and directors, as the who’s-who of the entertainment industry gathered for an elegant evening. Yet for some reason, the famous faces were forced to pack tightly into the space.
It was painful to watch award-winners awkwardly push their way through the crowd, forcing other celebrities to get out of their chairs so they could navigate the space.
Stars were pushing past one another and banging into each other with every effortful step toward the stage; half of the time they didn’t even know if they were walking in the right direction.
The show lacked energy, was shoddily written and didn’t offer any entertainment value to fans tuning in from home. Viewers kept hoping for a funny moment or a memorable moment … but the show failed to deliver.
The stars themselves seemed annoyed about being there, which greatly affected the overall energy of the show.
Award show ratings have been dropping for years, which begs the question — why the hell are they still running these?
The space was full of some of the most talented people in the world, yet the Golden Globes were unable to leverage all of that talent to create an entertaining program.
Too bad, I missed it. I was rearranging my underwear drawer..............
The idea of a “star” isn’t what it used to be.
That’s a good thing.
Now, to rid the world of “influencers”…
Why pander to these people? Get off your knees, queer.
I see nothing wrong with the host berating the jackasses assembled there to praise themselves and their debauchery. Might need to watch his opening and will be hoping it’s like Ricky Gervais when he called them out for being self-aggrandizing pedophiles.
Can’t wait for AI to do away with celebrities.
Yeah, like I’m gonna watch a bunch of self entitled liberal egomaniac millionaires slap each other on the back and hand out trophies for what a great job they did making a living in an alternate reality.
Not bloody likely.
“Can’t wait for AI to do away with celebrities”
I just hope it happens in my lifetime........I’ll laugh and laugh
Luckily most were watching the Bills-Dolphins game.
They won’t need those overpaid self adoring script reading nutcases much longer.
AI will create the actors and the whole movie.
It is sad because I like the human touch, but even they will be useless eaters.
The should have gotten Ricky Gervais back to host the awards. He would have cleaned things up in a hurry. Oh, well. Maybe next year.
And for the few folks who haven’t seen him hosting the 2020 awards, here’s a clip of his best moments.

Kneelers and squealers!
lol wut?
He’s the only one who could save this “award” ceremony and he said he won’t do it again.
Miami’s d-line is decimated now by injuries. Couldn’t believe I was seeing Melvin Ingram playing all game at edge after he was sitting at home up until a few weeks ago and actually playing somewhat well.
Chubb/Phillips/Van Ginkle all likely out against KC. My wife and I have been enjoying Hard Knocks and adopted the Fins as our second team after yet another mediocre Raiders season, although we do actually have a dependable defense in Silver and Black for the first time in years.
I was watching a football game, and flipped to the Golden Gloves for about 30 seconds to avoid a Progressive Insurance ad, then went back to the game. All the Progressive ads are bad, but I think the “becoming your parents” ones are the worst.
“Show business kids making movies of themselves, you know they don’t give a ____ about anybody else.”
Only if Dolph Lundgren was there....................
Oops. That should have been “Golden Globes.”
