Would you pay $650 for a table at Applebee’s in Times Square to watch the ball drop?
Apparently many New Year’s Eve revelers are willing to fork over just that and even more — including $12,500 for a luxury couples package at the Marriott Marquis — to ring in 2024, according to events entrepreneur Joshua Perla.
Perla, founder of events sites BallDrop.com and NewYears.com, said business has been brisk for the 30 different Times Square packages.
“We are seeing an uptick in the price consumers are spending on New Year’s Eve tickets that include a live view of the ball drop in Times Square,” Perla told Side Dish.

you couldn’t PAY ME to dine at AppleBees.
You need a reservation in case you might want to use a bathroom. Otherwise burst bladders.

If I’m not mistaken, both public urination, and public defecation have been permissible in New York City for a few years now.
The one closest to me is horrible.
Higher for longer. JPowell hasn’t brought rates high enough. No recession in sight.
There are hundreds of better places to dine in Manhattan on New Years Eve, away from the mad crowds around Times Square. In fact that is true on any day of the year.
Are the Palestinian rioters still roaming the streets?
Not a good place to be on New Year’s Eve.
True that.
The Marriott Marquis has a nice luncheon buffet.
I wouldn’t pay $650 for a table at Applebees if it seated 100 and included all you can eat lobster and all you can drink Champagne for all.
With all the climate protestor and pro-Hamas threats this holiday season, you’d be insane to expose yourself in such a public, high-visibility area in a leftist stronghold. The police there will help the “protesters” beat you up, and then charge YOU for bruising their fists.
New years eve is for amateurs.....and P.T. Barnum was right all along
Applebees used to be okay. In college, I’d go to their late-night half-price appetizer special for binging and studying.
That was decades ago. The last time I went, service was stupid horrible and the food was just meh.
I’ve always wanted to dine at Twenty-One. I think it recently closed though. And I wouldn’t have the clothes for it anyway.
AppleBees?? I thought that in the future, all the fine dining would be at a Taco Bell. Must be a different vision of the futre.
When I was a teenager my buddies and I would ride the LIRR into Penn Station and work our way up to Times Square with a bottle of peach schnapps and a few bucks.
It was great.
No stupid hats, no roving TV cameras, the only song was Auld Lang Syne, not that stupid atheist commie bullshit. It was real.
New Years Eve in Times Square now is fake, and if there are arschlochs who pay $12 grand to be there - obviously out of towners - well, as grandma would say, “a fool and his money are soon parted”.
