I saw the Pogues open for Los Lobos in L.A. years ago and it was such a fun strange combination. The gangster types in the audience to see Los Lobos didn't know what to make of Shane. They just stood there stunned. LOL! May he rest in peace! Thanks for the great music.

Until this obit, I’ve never heard of the group or their music. I’ll look them up on YT. RIP anyway.

RIP Shane.
McGowan in his much younger days. It's quite a miracle he even made it to 30 let alone 65.

Saw The Pogues in Notthingham, England long ago. Shane would sing a couple songs while desperately holding onto the microphone stand so he wouldn't topple over. He's disappear from stage for a bit, then come back out to sing. This was repeated throughout the show.
The cover of Dirty Old Town is my fave.
RIP, you enjoyable sot.

I was at the Fleadh music festival in 2000 (?) where Shane MacGowan & the Popes were one of the bands on the bill. Their set was delayed by 35-40 minutes due to Shane being MIA for all of the usual reasons, I'm sure, but they ended up putting on a good show once Shane found his way to the stage. RIP.

Dude was an amazing talent. One of my favorites.
I hope he’s raising a pint with Kirsty about now.
