At least 246 XL bully dogs will be euthanised when a ban on the breed comes into force at the end of the year, Sky News can reveal.
The dogs currently live in rescue centres run by the RSPCA, Blue Cross, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Dogs Trust and Mayhew, among others.
Under the ban, which comes into force in two phases, XL bullies cannot be lawfully rehomed or sold after 31 December.
It follows a spate of recent attacks and deaths involving the breed.

If you want to make those who want to eliminate bully breeds really irate, ask them to substitute bully breeds with Assault Rifles and the argument and goals are the same, just from people with different political goals.
Logically if you eliminate bully breeds, soon after, other breeds would be bred, to be aggressive and the calls to eliminate them would start up, until the only dogs left are chihuahuas and they can be pretty aggressive on their own.
How often have you heard gun grabbers says, no one needs an assault rifle, we don’t want to eliminate all guns just the weapons of war, etc...
It’s the exact same argument using two different objects of hate by different people.
Y’all …some on any long nosed bulldog..are so incredibly stupid
It never ceases to amaze me
22 years watching
At least there are far fewer virtue signalers on race now and zero open boarders types like in Bush years
What’s even scarier is freepers actually are more informed than average waddling American voter
That fact says a lot lol
These idiots don’t even know what these short legged fatassed bulldogs are
They much less terrier than pit bulls
But to these fools oh no it’s the pit bull from the bowels of hell
I own large uncut make Rotts
One sleeps foot of bed on bed
A far far more deadly to humans dog than pit looking mutts or actual pits and exponentially more than these fatties breed for looks and whom I’ve found to be pretty docile nor as dog aggressive as actual pit bulls
I’ve owned pits (atlas on my photo page 15 years and bit nobody ever)and my key man and his wife breed XLs but I’m a rottie person
I’m on number six at 66 just like my favorite hwy
Rotts are far more dangerous and hostile intensity than pits or these XLs the latter I’ve found docile
I’ve been around scores of XLs due to my employee
My only complaint is like any bulldog breed they tend toward dullard
I prefer Teutonic guard breeds for intelligence
Dobies
Rotts
Alsatian
Malinois
Can’t go wrong there
And one of my rotts saved the life of an ex girlfriend in Gainesville Florida late 80s
A banned breed in some jurisdictions btw
I used to thinks so too - then my daughter got 2 Pit-Bulls and both are smart and loving...even around kids and cats. Just like people, there’s good ones and bad ones and sometimes it’s nature and sometimes it’s nurture - Id wager we have a higher percentage of bad people than Pit-Bulls - and that most of the “bad” Pits are owned by the bad people....
“ask them to substitute bully breeds with Assault Rifles”
Assault rifles are pack animals?
You omit a big difference in your analogy.
Bull Terrier type dogs can act on their own, and only a fool would take their eyes off of one, when in proximity.
A handgun, shotgun, or rifle, is an inanimate object, that will harm no one on its own. It can sit in the corner for centuries, and be trusted to turn your back on.
Totally not related.
The argument is the same it’s not my responsibility to convince you of anything it’s an analogy
They’re all good, kind, loving dogs......until they’re not.
“they should do is sterilize them all.”
Not a bad idea. It would be kinder to a living thing, and a more humane way to end the breed.
Fauci has a way with dogs. Why not ask his a advice? 😏
Nonsense. There are bad actors in EVERY species.
And animals bred to be bad actors will have a higher incidence of it.
I know a person who was mauled by one. Just minding his own business across the street. Dog somehow jumped the fence and crossed the street to attack him. Police put the dog down.
ALL pit bulls should be removed from the earth.
It’s not the same argument as guns are inanimate objects and cannot act independently of their own accord.
Dogs are able to ignore their training and owners commands. They are not tools. They are independent creatures who can act by their own volition.
So, no, the argument is not the same when you are comparing to objects that area as different as that.
“They’re all good, kind, loving dogs......until they’re not.”
Really. When I lived in Alaska, about once or twice a year there’d be a story about a family’s husky who went rogue and killed one of the kids. For years the dogs had been mild mannered, and even super protective of everyone. There had been no provocation; the dog just snapped.
I don’t know much about dogs, but I love all animals (except reptiles). My nephew has a Jack Russell that’s great with the kids, and my niece has catahoula — also great with the kids. Both are protective of the families.
How about the owners? Can we do something with them.
Disgusting dog .
If you don’t see the point parallels then you don’t want to see them, the argument is the same
There’s lots of bad dogs.
The sooner people retire that moronic slogan, the sooner we can get rid of the more vicious, unpredictable breeds
What BS there are plenty of bad dogs.
A big difference an inanimate object compared to a living thing.
One can do nothing unless some one picks it up.
The other is capable of acting on its own.
Huskies and Malamutes and similar spitz breeds are known for not being good with kids. My ex and I had a Huskey and we had to be very watchful when friends and relatives came over with their kids. She growled and nipped unprovoked at my nephew several times when he was between 5 and 10 years old.
Boxers, however, rank very high on being good around kids.
