A 12-year-old Westchester County girl with a rare neurological condition has raised enough money to buy a new motorized wheelchair after her previous mobility aid was cruelly stolen from her front yard.
Family friends of Aliyah Rivera, of Ossining, launched a fundraiser days after her wheelchair, laptop and other belongings were swiped just outside her house Thursday as she was getting ready for school.
The preteen has been fighting Acute Flaccid Myelitis, an uncommon condition that attacks the nervous system – particularly a part of the spinal cord that causes the muscles and reflexes in the body to weaken, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

Yep, and that surprises me.
Considering that Hispanics tend to live in communities, I would make a wild guess that it’s another Hispanic that stole it.
Doesn’t even need to be true. Just meant to get people emotional around the holidays. Much less likely to question the veracity of the rest of their tripe.
Sorry, but I am sceptical. I suspect this may be a hoax meant to tug on people’s heart strings. The photos tell me a different story than is being presented.
Here in LA many guys use a wheelchair to panhandle in front of stores.
Seen one guy push one into a bar after a good take of cash.
Lazy folks didn’t take the wheelchair inside...and somebody stole it.
When they get another wheelchair, I bet it goes inside — EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Can’t be many maroon/pewter colored vans of that make in the u.s. with the biometrics of that face and body.other street or security cameras could have caught the van pre and post theft.
