Formula 1 fans watching the Las Vegas Grand Prix tore down controversial track view-blocking screens along the public areas of the city’s famous Strip during the returning race, Motorsport.com has learned.
The race had already courted some controversy in the weeks leading up to this weekend on this element when view-blocking filters were applied to areas of pedestrian bridges running over the Strip that prevented people without tickets from seeing the track.
When attempts were made to remove this by local residents, it was replaced in the relevant areas and had cage-like structures added that also covered the bridges' upper elements to stop anything being thrown down onto the track
Fans who only had tickets for Thursday's action were offered $200 vouchers to spend in the event's online merchandise store after they only witnessed eight minutes of live track action.
This has been followed by a high-profile Nevada law firm launching legal action against the Las Vegas GP organisation to try and secure refunds for the impacted spectators.

LOL...
Looks like Steve Bannon got a good view.
what right do they have to bloc the view in public areas? Corporate america is out of control in this country.
If you pay me $20 I will lower the chain that prevents you from passing your boat along the river.
Great. F1 is probably the greediest bunch of bastards I’ve ever seen.
Ironically, “motorsport” wants me to subscribe or view ads to read their story, and blocked me from viewing it due to my use of an ad blocker. Like the F1 fans, I found a way around the “screen” and viewed the article in “reader” mode.
firefox???
If they wanna keep the peasants from watching the race, they should buy a big hunk of land, build their own track, Build a big solid fence around it.
If they want to race through a city, on public streets, anyone should be able to watch.
Chrome.
OH Yeah...
thx...
Most comical image of the day!
“If they wanna keep the peasants from watching the race, they should buy a big hunk of land, build their own track”
Exactly!
I was in Vegas for a week in early October and I can tell you that the majority of locals were royally pissed off. There is a large expensive condo overlooking the strip and race officials were trying to get permission to put up a privacy screen over the sides of the building so tenants could not view the race. Traffic at that time was already a nightmare.
And I just thought myhammie was disgusting with the painted on the ground "marina".
lost vega$$ took the cake.
I'm embarrassed to be an American right now because of this crap.
I went to Vegas recently to see U2 at the Sphere. The Strip was a mess, and the walkways that were still open to the public had these ridiculous screens blocking the views. If they keep this F1 race as an annual disaster, I’ll avoid Vegas during the months prior to the race.

Also the most boring “racing” ever created.
