Today is a working day in our city, Odesa.
The visit of Mark Rutte, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, and his team. Our negotiations. There is a decision regarding missiles for the ‘Patriots’ – the Netherlands is providing additional missiles. Today, we also discussed with Mark other joint steps for Ukraine’s defense.
Particular attention to the defense of Odesa, our entire South – from the Danube ports to the ports of Greater Odesa. We discussed the protection of our export corridors in the Black Sea. The world recognizes Ukraine’s global role as a guarantor of food security. It firmly supports the need to preserve and enhance our significance in this issue.
The social stability of many countries directly depends on Ukraine’s strength.
Today, we were in the port of Odesa. We received briefings from military and government officials about our unity with the world market and the protection of the Ukrainian Black Sea waters. I held a meeting regarding the situation in Odesa region with law enforcement leaders, regional authorities, and military leadership. The key focus is, of course, preparation for winter, safeguarding the energy sector, and rebuilding what was destroyed by Russian attacks. I am grateful to everyone who is working to ensure the safety of our people. The work of everyone in the government system and our diplomats is currently aimed at enduring the winter and delivering a powerful rebuff to Russian attacks on the city of Odesa, Odesa region, the cities of the region, and the entire Ukraine. More protection will be provided to our state.
Today, I had the honor of visiting our warriors who are recovering from injuries. Together with Mark, we spent time with them and talked to them. I presented state awards to the military and the doctors who are helping them.
I met with the cadets of the Military Academy in Odesa. A great conversation. Thank you, guys, for your attention and your questions. Boys and girls – you’re doing great.
Today, in Odesa, I addressed the participants of the meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force – a format of regional cooperation in northern Europe. The United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Norway. The meeting took place on the Swedish island of Gotland, which is a significant signal, a very symbolic place for leaders to discuss the security of Europe and the long-term reliable defense of our countries and people. Looking at the map, one can immediately understand why Russian state propagandists called for the capture of this island. Gotland is control over the entire region, and Russia is also trying to destabilize this region. When I addressed the Swedish Parliament in 2022, at the beginning of the full-scale war, I spoke precisely about how important it is to be strong for everyone in Europe, in all parts of the continent, in every such strategic point like Gotland, which determines common security. By the way, I’m grateful for the joint statement of the leaders of the Joint Expeditionary Force today. It’s a strong statement. Support of Ukraine, especially in our path to NATO and clear condemnation of Russian aggression. And the readiness to assist us as needed to win the war.

Today, we signed a Protocol with Moldova regarding joint border control at the Kuchurhan - Novosavitskaya railway crossing point. This is another route for our exports, an additional transport corridor that will undoubtedly strengthen our entire region. Thank you, Moldova!
I also want to thank our warriors today – those who defend our skies. Especially in the southern part of the country. Our firing groups. The 13th Separate Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Battalion, the 5th National Guard Brigade, and the 14th Radio Technical Brigade. Thank you, warriors!
Glory to all who is fighting for Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who is helping us! Thank you, Mark, for your visit and today’s negotiations, for all your support!
And thank you, Odesa! We will definitely rebuild everything that Russia has destroyed.

The strength that unity brings to Ukraine, both internally and with the European Union and NATO, will secure the future of our state. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a joint interaction with Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, while engaging with cadets and the teaching staff at the Military Academy and the Naval Institute of the national university Odesa Maritime Academy.
As the Head of State emphasized, Ukraine’s independence has been achieved through great strength and significant human sacrifices.
“Therefore, when we talk about how we envision Ukraine in the future, we must understand how it was obtained, with what losses and pain. And this should not be forgotten,” he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it is the united Ukraine that did not allow to be occupied and is currently winning the war against the aggressor.
“I believe, Ukraine’s strength and its weakness lies in this. Weakness because it was divided. Weakness because it was possible to occupy our Crimea and Donbas at the beginning of the war. Both the authorities and the people were weak because they thought it was somewhere far in the east or in Crimea and didn’t concern us. No, we are all one country, and that is the strength today. The world is so proud of Ukrainians and Ukraine because we are all united. I believe that Ukraine’s future is in this strength, in this unity,” the President said.
According to him, this unity also includes Ukraine’s unity with the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance states.
“It’s also a big family and an honorable, worthy place for Ukraine. Our state cannot be alone – it’s difficult... We are Europeans, and we have proven it. In the EU and in NATO... NATO was a bit more complicated, but I am confident that after the war, after victory, everything will be different. The future lies in this strength. The future of an independent country... I am sure that our future lies in the unity of Ukraine,” the Head of State concluded.

Russia using incendiary phosphorus munitions in mad scramble to take Avdiyivka, says Presidential Office head

In their mad efforts to take Avdiyivka in Donetsk Oblast, Russian forces are using phosphorus munitions, said Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak on Telegram.
“Our land, a Ukrainian city. The Russians have committed significant resources to this front. They are using phosphorus, aiming to engulf everything around with their ‘fire’,” he said.
Despite challenging battles, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are maintaining their positions, Yermak noted.
The Russians seem to disregard the well-being of their own personnel, focusing on sheer numbers, he added.
“Our strength lies in quality and unity. And in a calculated approach to our needs to defeat the Russians,” he said.
Russia’s Advance on Avdiyivka — What We Know
Russian military forces have intensified their advance on Avdiyivka, launching heavy strikes on the city. The clashes have persisted for four straight days.
Oct. 10 was perhaps the “most extensive offensive on the city during the entire full-scale war,” said Avdiyivka City Military Administration head Vitaliy Barabash, adding that the situation remains under control. Ukrainian military sources revealed that the occupiers are looking to encircle Avdiyivka, deploying a substantial amount of equipment and personnel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has affirmed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding their positions near Avdiyivka.
Russian occupying forces continue their active offensive actions in the Avdiyivka region and view the city as an opportunity to secure some form of “victory” and shift the course of combat operations, said Tavria Defense Forces spokesperson Oleksandr Shtupun.

Ukraine hits Russian Navy ships with experimental Sea Baby drones — again!

Ukraine’s SBU Security Service, in conjunction with the Ukrainian Navy, conducted an operation targeting the Russian Buyan-M class cruise missile carrier and a patrol ship, the Pavel Derzhavin, using experimental maritime drone weaponry, NV sources reported on Oct. 13.
Details of the operation remain undisclosed, but sources indicate that both vessels were struck by surface drones armed with experimental weaponry known as the Sea Baby.
“After the initial strike, Russian minesweepers and divers were unable to detect our innovation (Sea Baby drones — ed.). Yesterday, the Alrosa (class) submarine was lucky to escape our efforts,” said one of the operation’s organizers.
The Buyan-M class cruise missile carrier was reportedly hit on Oct. 13 in the Sevastopol raid by the Sea Baby experimental maritime drones.
“SBU warns the Moscow regime: Do not venture into Ukrainian waters if you wish to preserve any remnants of your fleet,” emphasized the source.
The Buyan class is the Russian designation for Project 21630 Buyan and Project 21631 Buyan-M vessels. They are a series of corvettes, or small artillery and missile ships. All vessels since 2010 have been constructed as the improved Project 21631 subclass, incorporating greater tonnage, stealth technology and the 3S14 vertical launching system for either Kalibr or Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles, significantly enhancing combat capabilities.
The ships are primarily designed for coastal zone operations to protect Russia’s vast coastal areas. Due to the small tonnage, they can operate even in shallow areas of oceans and seas and Russia’s extensive inland waterway system. The export model is known as Project 21632 Tornado.
This incident follows a recent event where a patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Pavel Derzhavin, was damaged near Sevastopol on Oct. 11. While the Ukrainian Navy confirmed the ship’s damage, they did not provide specific details about the incident. Local Telegram channels reported that the Pavel Derzhavin may have hit a Russian mine.
In a prior incident on the early morning of Sept. 14, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck and damaged two patrol ships of the aggressor country, both of the Project 22160 Vasily Bykov type, in the southwestern Black Sea. A missile ship, Samum, was also targeted in this operation, which utilized maritime drones.
Notably, a day before these incidents, powerful explosions were reported across the occupied Sevastopol. Russia claimed that these were the result of an attack by missiles and “unmanned boats,” acknowledging damage to a ship repair facility and two ships that were allegedly “under repair.”
Ukrainian intelligence asserted that a large landing ship, Minsk, and the submarine Rostov-on-Don were struck and considered beyond repair.

Give it up, Rev; Ukraine is NOT going to win. A few skirmishes, maybe, but they are outnumbered and outgunned, and as we have heard, the American money tree has lost most of its leaves. I feel sorry for the the Ukrainian people; their leader is a crooked thug, insisting on war with a bigger thug. If they’re blessed, their dictatorial leader will allow elections, and they can pick someone who has more common sense, and has enough decency to care about what happens to them. But as far as their war goes, stick a fork in them; they’re done.

Russian military is a disaster
No, I never said anything like that, but it is hopeless.
Originally people just hoped that the Russian war machine would suffer some loss of prestige, and suffer a little before rolling up Ukraine within a few weeks, today, 20 months later, people argue about who is winning.
2. From 10:55, Ukraine will start receiving the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) soon. Other sources keep teasing about ATACMS. Ukraine has used GLMRS and Storm Shadow to hit Russian command and logistics. That forced the Russian army to move these further away from the lines, making command logistics for the front lines harder. What GMLRS accomplished, GLSDB will make worse.
3. From 13:50, Russia's nuclear powered cruise missile. The US tried this with Project Pluto. The Air Force terminated it because ICBMs worked, were faster to employ and required greatly lower maintenance in comparison. Davydov points out turbine bearings require lubrication. Once the oil for the bearings is used up the engine will fail. That means a flight time weeks or months is impossible.
The war is 20 months old. If Ukraine “can’t win”, when will Russia finally “not lose?”
