Not so fast, sometimes a good crack from a hammer gets a starter going.

Years ago when I drove a '69 Spitfire, I had a starter going out. I carried a hammer in my car for those moments when I wasn't on a hill to push start it. I could actually reach the ignition with one hand while stretching to tap the starter with the other. Tiny little cars, those Spitfires.
