neat, I’ve always wanted to do that. and vanilla is so expensive now.
so how did you make it and how long does it need before you can use it?

Made some vanilla extract with vanilla beans and vodka for the first time today. Hope it works. I've done that. It works very well.
I also tried it with rum. It worked well, too.
But it does take a while.

it works....at least mine did but I had to use a lot of vanilla beans and I used rum and boubon for mine...made two quart size jars....don't use metal rings on top...corrosive....
the advice of one internet blog, you must wait 18months for a really rich vanilla which I have done....now I just have to bake more....
