Prepper ping - Prepper Simplicity and 'go bags'

JudyinCanada :" My family have bug-out bags,
but I don’t know what’s in them (it’s my daughter, SIL and grands)."

Don't forget to seasonally adjust what's in the bug-out/ go bags; separate spare clothes for summer vs. winter wear, with a change of shoes/ boots/socks/ etc.,etc.
The easiest way is to is to have a core of 'year around' necessities (generally hygiene, medications, and spare clothes)in an appropriate size zip lock bag
and then have another seperate zip lock bag that you can interchange (keeping it fresh) with other items, including a water container, snacks and nutrition bars.

That is so important, for the change in the seasonal needs and to check all your gear and batteries, etc.

In the car think about what could happen.
I saw people in jeans, tennis shoes, and stylish light jackets drive off in zero-degree temperatures (and worse), not thinking what an hour-long walk in snow-wet tennis, cotton socks, and cotton jeans could mean and what it could result in medically.

Here is a tentative prepping schedule:

09/18/23 Being Right with God
09/25/23 Financial Security
10/02/23 Bug Out Bags

I moved being debt-free down one week diana, pandowdy came up with a topic that’s definitely has to be done first. And throughout.

Each of you came up with great ideas, and even the topics, so I’m pinging you. If you don’t mind I will use your post in the post with the topic description or even just point to your post, if I run out of time. Or if any of you want to write something up more than what you’ve done already, that would be awesome.

This is an ongoing thread so each topic will be embedded Within it. I will ping to the group every week, or bi-weekly of that works out better, and say what the topic is and ping to the post with it. If that makes sense...

I’m so glad you guys have jumped right in. And if anybody else wants to suggest a topic or write something up, that’d be great.

Excellent points.

One of my main seasonal considerations (or determinents) is the heat of the vehicle interior year 'round but especially in the summer.

The temperature inside a closed vehicle in the summer sun can easily hit 120 to 160 degrees dependent upon your locale.

So the summer sun and the heat build up on BOB's and other gear in a closed vehicle preclude packing some items I would like to have that I might be able to pack in the winter.

Not only can the intense heat ruin some items in short order it can also reduce the usable life of other items.

Items to think about include butane fuel canisters and lighters, wax candles, some types of energy bars and other foods, etc.
