Actor/producer Salma Hayek has discussed her decision to explore the theme of trans acceptance and Mexican traditions in her new festive film El Sabor de la Navidad.
The film, which Hayek also produced, will see three different Christmas narratives intertwined, including one about a Mexican mother who learns to embrace her trans daughter.
The mother, played by Mónica Dionne, must learn to accept her trans daughter, Penelope when she decides to attend Christmas dinner.
Hayek said it was important for her to produce a project that sends a strong message about her beliefs: “We believe in projects that represent the community in the right way, but also makes them think, makes them feel proud of who we are,” she told Variety.
Adding: “Sometimes when it’s a family member, you have to accept first, and then understand, but it’s important to go towards that second step so you’re not tolerating a loved one, but totally loving someone.”
Jose Tamez, the writer of the film and director of development for Hayek’s Ventanarosa Productions, said: “I was trying to present three stories about love. Being a member of the gay community, that was a story that resonated with me. And I thought it could resonate with everyone, regardless of your situation.”
Hayek often explores the seemingly impossible in her works. In the same interview, she explains how discovering Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at a young age, allowed her to realise that filmmaking has the power to expose such realities.
When discussing Mel Stuart’s 1971 masterpiece, Hayek explained how she was blown away by the magical possibilities of filmmaking: “I realised that through filmmaking, you can create so many different realities and everything was possible. And so, I wanted to be part of that business.”
El Sabor de la Navidad is heading to streaming platform ViX in November.
No it isn't. Her beliefs are foolish and silly, and she should shut up.
People should also tell her that her beliefs are just silly and harmful to children.
So sick of this trans crap.
No one is paying to see this.
>> Being a member of the gay community
Considerably more meaning than being just gay.
She should wear a T-shirt that says “I wish these were brains”.
Greatest scene in movie history.
Christmas dinner ???
No son, dont come if you insist on wearing a dress ...
Cut your hair and wear a pair of jeans...
I didnt give birth to a daughter...
She was hot...
I liked the flick as well. Many here would not.
That explains why she suddenly stopped calling me.
There's nothing new under the sun. They can repackage hedonism in different wrappings but we've been here over and over.
Since this is about a Christmas film, let's revisit how Christ Himself handled it. Jesus accepted (forgave) the harlot ... right before telling her to sin no more. You can welcome someone into your group of friends without having to atta-boy his behavior. Another thing is the modern hedonists want to undo something else Jesus did, and that's related to one's status:
In Jesus' day the "sinners" (everybody sins, but this is a different categorization) were in a kind of caste that nether themselves nor religious group would let them get out of. In other words, their status was defined by their sinful behavior (including sexual sin, like "the harlot").
Jesus undid that mess and defined people back to being creations of God -- even worth Jesus dying for. In God there's a chance for change and repentance -- you don't have to be defined by your sin (though we should always be humble knowing we can never earn our way to Heaven).
But the left is saying people are defined by their sinful behavior, it's their "identity" and such and if you and I don't like it we're not accepting "who they are". That's hogwash and not how Jesus sees who they are. Jesus died for them and us even before we knew Him. In other words, Jesus saw us as being able to change our way of thinking and not being stuck in some doom loop like it's our "identity".
You too?…
She must like Gators. ;)
Let’s hope she looses her bra on this one
What chick doesn’t?…
You like a movie that promotes a mental disorder (transvestites), genital mutilation and homosexuality?

We were discussing the movie from the picture that I posted, From Dusk Till Dawn.
Most “functioning” men think of the exact scene I posted when she is mentioned.
She empathizes with trannies because they both have plastic mounds implanted in their chests.
I think hers are real, or at least used to be real...
“Who told you you were (a girl/boy)?” was covered in Genesis. Loving someone doesn’t mean agreeing or going along with their mental illness, but working to keep them grounded in reality, as used to be taught in medicine, nursing, and Christianity. At the same time, we don’t abandon our mentally ill family members, and indeed, still love them, however the homeowner’s set the rules in the house, the same as God in His kingdom. Boundaries are set for a reason, and while our spirits may be sexless, our physical bodies in this existence aren’t and there are consequences.
