IIRC, there was also another volcanic eruption, Mt. Pinatubo that dumped and untold amount of debris and ash in the atmosphere. But climate leftists insisted that has no part in their particular climate scare - the one where they believe cow farts, etc. were/are far more impactful.

This year’s extreme weather has most likely been the result of the confluence of several natural events: the peak of El Niño during the regular El Niño/La Niña cycle, the peak of the solar maximum during the 11-year solar cycle, and the Tonga underwater volcanic eruption.

But of course it is all blamed on anthropogenic Global Climate Change™. In a couple of years, during the next La Niña and solar minimum, and after the effects of the Tonga volcanic eruption have dissipated, we will have a mild winter and summer and very few hurricanes, but it will just be weather.
