Over the weekend, singing legend Jimmy Buffett campaigned for Florida’s big governor race, supporting Democrat Andrew Gillum, and even tweaked the lyrics to his song “Come Monday” to make his point. At the Get Out the Vote rally in West Palm Beach, not far from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, the crooner sang: “Come Tuesday/Things will change. Come Tuesday/We’re making a change. It’s been two insane years/Time to really switch gears.”

Buffett was a big democrat.
RIP otherwise.
Mods pull at your discretion.
Buffett had a long friendship with Teddy K. I didn’t hold that against him. RIP Jimmy. Enjoyed your music.

There are at least three ongoing Jimmy Buffett threads that you could post this screech to. Why you feel the need to post a new thread from 2018 is beyond me.
Guy was a capitalist through and through - sold his brand on merchandise, alcohol, hotels, housing developments, theater, books, music, restaurants, clothes. Like many artists, his politics were misguided.
Buffett, like Springsteen, was a Party man. He loved Trump when Trump was a Democrat.
Yes in a WEF, Klaus Schwab type of way.
> I choose to remember his music and smile. <
Yep. Some Democrats are just plain evil. Yes, Hillary Clinton. I’m talking about folks like you.
Other Democrats are either ill-informed or just plain stupid politically. Jimmy Buffett was evidently in this group.
It is a mistake to lump those two groups together. Try it, and you’ll end up hating half your fellow citizens.
In the entertainment industry, if you want a career, you side with the Democrats.
his music is now off our playlist
no need for us to support him with our money when there are houndreds of great singers to choose from
Well he certainly doesn’t need the money now.
They both have/had the luxury of enough wealth that they are unaffected by the misery the rats cause to the vast majority of people who have just enough income to get by. Even their children are insulated from the reality of it just like the Hollywood creeps
True, maybe his estate does, wouldn't be surprised if there are AI 3D concerts in the future.
Michael Jordan was the only "celebrity" who got it right.
right you are!
Springsteen and Buffett - I never understood what people saw in either one of them.
> In the entertainment industry, if you want a career, you side with the Democrats. <
So true. You can’t even be neutral anymore. It’s kind of like living in Brezhnev’s USSR. If you stray from the party line, you won’t be shot or sent to a gulag.
But you will go from being a movie star to working the night shift in a tractor factory.
As a side note, I was watching a video interview of comedian Bill Burr the other day. Burr is vulgar. But he’s also very funny. Now and again he will poke fun at the wokesters.
Ah, but in the interview Burr just had to mention that he “leans left”. It was out of context. There was no reason to throw that in, except to protect his career. And yeah. I was disappointed that Burr went there.
This is what too much alcohol and easy money does to your brain
Taylor Swift is a perfect example of that. She never said anything political, so they accused her of being a "Trumpster", then she went all lefty.
Joe Rogan does the same thing, he says all these good things, then says he’s a “Bernie Supporter”.
My husband’s sister and her husband are very conservative, but are personal friends with Buffett. So at least he ate, drank, and sang with others from across the aisle.
