An elderly Florida man was arrested by the FBI after he attempted to rob a Miami-area bank for $650 because he was “in desperate need for rent money” and faced becoming homeless.
On Aug. 24, Michael Terry Noojin, 67, jumped in line at a Bank of America in Hollywood, Florida, just after 2:40 p.m. and waited while the three tellers working were helping two other customers.
Noojin then walked up to the waiting teller and slid a brown plastic shopping bag under the protective glass divider, telling her, “I have a gun, put all the money in the bag,” according to an FBI criminal complaint obtained by the Daily Beast.
The teller didn’t reply to Noojin’s demands, forcing him to repeat his statement.
“I’m not playing around, I have a gun, put the money in the bag,” Noojin said.
The teller who was facing Noojin claimed she never saw a gun but locked her cash drawer anyway, prompting the two other tellers next to her to do the same, with one of them also activating the emergency alarm, according to the criminal complaint submitted to the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Noojin, who was wearing a yellow polo shirt with sailboats and birds, blue jeans, white shoes and sunglasses, sensed his plan was foiled, grabbed the bag and ran out of the building via the emergency exit.

Should’ve been in California where you get off scott free for such small amounts.
He could have legally changed his name to Biden and done the mandatory family shower with Joe...
Well, now he gets free room and board.
Can he enter a plea stating he is a Californian and thought anything below $950 was a “freebie”?
Meanwhile, those who annoy can steal $950 in merchandise and gets a fist bump. This countrys law enforcement SUCKS!
I don’t like this story.
I’m 67 and still pretty vital. I don’t like a 67 year old person being labeled as ‘elderly.’
Guess it depends on your health and vitality.
I could have accepted “Senior Citizen.” Elderly just sounds like he’s an escapee from a nursing home.
His best bet was to go over the border, renounce his citizenship , and sneak back in as an illegal. He would have been set for life.( Of course this is said in jest since it would Boston him at least $1500 yo renounce his citizenship)

It’s not the fault of law enforcement that thieves can steal up to $950 and get away with it, it’s law makers that do that.
Didn’t really need “elderly” as a descriptor. Florida man/woman works for all age ranges. :)
You apparently don’ttink to much of elderly calling them escapees from a nursing home .

Give me a number. What’s elderly? I’m 78 and vital and if that’s not elderly, I dunno what is.
Labels are just that................ Labels.
This is the massive hypocrisy we have in the country that requires a full restoration of the country. Badly needed.
“Well, now he gets free room and board.”
He will not be the first nor the last to do this sham robbery to go to jail.
He didn’t rob the bank of anything. He did not get $650.
He says he needed $650 for the rent. But if the teller had stuffed the bag with $20,000, I don’t think he would have given $19,350 back.
Bank robbery is bank robbery. He deserves everything he has coming.
yeppers
67 elderly? Bwaahha!
Loved your racecar!!
Palindrome!!
Does that include T-bone steak every Friday at LNCI?
(Lantana Correctional Institute.)😁
Florida!
I'm 74, just ran about 3 miles today, and I'm anything but elderly.
If someone wanted to call me old, I'd challenge them to a 5 mile race followed by a game of concentration.
