In light of what has transpired over the last day or so, I am going to start a thread that compares the treatment of Joseph McCarthy to the treatment of Donald Trump.
In it, I will draw the parallels to collaboration between the White House, the Media, the DOJ, the Democrat Party, and yes, the Republican Party, in an effort to bring down a man.
Full disclosure: There will be two elements that people will not expect, but are absolutely valid and true.
First, that the FBI was on the side of America during the McCarthy era.
Second, that the Truman Administration (and Harry Truman himself) was on the side of the Democrats and America’s enemies. This will be the most difficult to swallow for most people who view Truman as a Communist fighter. But I will explain how he made the decision to sacrifice the national security of America in order to protect the Democrat Party. And he did. The evidence is irrefutable. He made that sacrifice to protect his party, and chose that path over national security and American interests.
I fully recognize there are people who simply do not want to hear this (especially about Truman) and I will likely make some enemies in the process. But I cannot help that. It must be said.

Interesting that you cite the correlation from the McCarthy Era to that of now. It was also what inspired me today to watch several film clips about McCarthy today.
