Trump was asked about North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ law — specifically, its ban on transgender people using the bathroom in schools and government buildings that aligns with their gender identity. He came out in opposition to North Carolina’s law.
“North Carolina did something [that] was very strong, and they’re paying a big price, and there’s a lot of problems,” Trump said at a town hall with the Today show, referring to the “economic punishment” the state is seeing as a result of the law.
Trump then said that North Carolina shouldn’t have made changes restricting trans people’s bathroom use: “There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble.”
Asked whether he would let Caitlyn Jenner, a trans woman, use the bathroom for her gender identity at Trump Tower, he said he would. He added, “There’s a big move to create new bathrooms. Problem with that is … first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is.”

The claim is correct regarding the beauty contests:

Do not believe this is an achilles heel. Trump needs to make his position clear, That’s it.

Over a decade ago, Trump famously overturned an earlier decision by the Miss Universe organization, which Trump owned from 1996 to 2015, to disqualify Canadian model Jenna Talackova, then 23, because she was not a “naturally born” female.
Trump reversed the decision, saying the organization would respect the laws of Canada and allow Talackova to compete for the Miss Universe Canada title, where the winner would go on to compete in the global telecast.
“We let her in,” Trump said in a video on April 4, 2012.
“This is an obvious lie.”

DeSantis might have a point here. Or he might not.
No matter. The GOP 2024 primary season is essentially over. It’s gonna be Trump. That leaves DeSantis with two choices. Join forces with Trump against a common enemy. Or help the Democrats by continuing to nip at Trump’s heels.
Let’s hope DeSantis makes the right choice, and soon.

For military reasons. He still supports allowing men into womens restrooms.
But by then, pageant organizers already reversed course, allowing Talackova to compete at the behest of Trump, who was president and owner of the Miss Universe pageant, Reuters reported.
“As long as she meets the standards of legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, which we understand that she does, Jenna Talackova is free to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant,” Michael Cohen, then-special counsel to Trump and executive vice president of his business group, said at the time.
“Nobody is capitulating. Rather the Miss Universe organization is respecting the laws of Canada,” Cohen told Reuters, adding that she, “like all the other contestants, is wished the best of luck by Mr. Trump.”
Not quite as cut & dry as DeSantis is making it out to be. Perhaps he should go to Canada and try to do something there that breaks the laws there, since he is such a big talker.

DeSantis will never get my vote for sure, in any future attempts he may try to become this nation's leader. Because he is a deceitful person.
Trump banned trannies from the Military. That being said I kind of doubt this tranny/gay stuff is all that big of an issue for most voters. It might be why DeSantis has dropped a lot in polling AFTER he got into the race.
I’m sure people don’t like trannies in women’s sports but I don’t think its top ten most important issue for voters.
This guys is just making himself a joke at this point…

As for 2024, Trump still cannot get to 335: he will not win MI, PA, GA, or AZ. How will he get to 335 without them?
All he can do is win the nomination and go down in flames taking the party with him.
Trump had enough sense to see that under Canadian law he would look l;okle an ogre in court.
I don’t see in any of his statements that he was enthused with the idea. Accepting the inevitable does not denote enthusiasm.
Why would he stupid telling such a blatant lie? He must be getting very desperate. I’ve got a suggestion. Leave the trail. Come home to Florida and work on the insurance. Problem that we have here. That’ll give you a good history when you decide to run the next day
