Valid points. But how far should we push the embrace-what-you-are mantra?

For example, as a man my beard looks normal on me and my wife likes it. But I still need to trim it regularly and shave parts of my neck and face, or the real "what I am" would look scraggly. Same with other grooming and hygiene things I and everybody else does daily.

Otherwise the real what we are would look and smell really really bad --- like Occupy Wall Street. LOL

Social “norms” are always changing.

There isn’t much we can do about that.

The part about this story that is missing is the impact of diet on these conditions. Embracing obesity is a dangerous course to take. The costs of that on society are going to be enormous in 10-15 years.

And the fact is that even though the magazines and Tick Tok videos are pushing this acceptance...the reality is that most of society “rejects” it. That is not going to change anytime soon. It’s important to remember the adage about news: Its “man bites dog”. This stuff is published because its doesn’t adhere to the “norms.”

Just because it’s in a publication doesn’t mean that it’s a cultural norm. Not for one second.
