When I graduated from law school in 1967 I had one $700 student loan debt. Today that would be about $7000. I paid it off in under three years, two of which were spent as a second and first Lieut. in the Army. Today’s equivalent would be about $7000. Anyone with a vaguely reasonable income, today in the neighborhood of $40-$60,000, could certainly pay off a $7000 debt that was voluntarily incurred without serious trouble. If any such individual has serious trouble he or she is probably wildly financially responsible.
Celebrities shouldn’t be responsible for paying off student loans; that’s for the “little people of flyover country” to do.
