For decades, I never gave much thought to the lyrics to “Imagine”, I knew them, but most of the time, the song was a soundtrack song for life, playing in the background here and there. Then when I really listened to them, it occurred to me just how banal and idiotic they were.

“Imagine there’s no Country”.

Oh, sure. And everyone will get along just fine. Not. More likely, people would live in walled cities, armed to the teeth, all the time. I guess if the likes of Soros and the Dems get their wishes, that is what we will see.

As for Diana, I never got it. I was never into the royalty aspect, even if I did appreciate figures like the King Haakon of Norway (who refused to capitulate to the Nazis) and Queen Elizabeth (who took her role as a ceremonial monarch quite seriously).

King Charles is Biden with bad teeth and an English accent.

I found the fascination and hysterical mourning for her kind of creepy. Not for the British, mind you. I excused them due to their relationship to her as ostensible royalty, that was their thing. But the Americans who went teary-eyed ga-ga was just unsettling.

Years later, when Trump beat Hillary, I had the same gut impression watching Leftist women lose their minds. (I lump Leftist men in with them...because)

The thing to remember with “Imagine” is that Lennon was an atheist. And if you are an atheist, and you have good intentions and want the world to be a better place, then you have to delude yourself in some way.

Maybe you’ll delude yourself that an all-powerful government can change human nature and force people to stop doing bad things. Or maybe you’ll delude yourself that if we all just close our eyes, wish real hard, and click our heels together 3 times, we can end war and poverty and strife. But you’re going to have to pick a delusion.

Because, in the real world, only a God has the power to change the fundamental problems that ail our world.
