Recently I’ve had trouble finding any zucchini at the grocery store. This past week I finally found a few really ugly looking ones. Managed to find 2 decent ones in the organic section, so bought those.
Then yesterday I was looking for grapes. No grapes to be found!!
Once there was a supply chain issue (2020), it was no longer just toilet paper or cleaners that were in short supply. Every week it’s been one thing or another. You just never know what it will be, and I’ve had to learn to be more flexible with my meal plans.
Good news, though. The grocery store also had some whole chickens for $5. They were approaching their sale by date. Bought one and hubby spatchcocked it, and then smoked it. Had it for dinner Thursday night. So good! Froze the leftovers to be used in soups, casseroles, or chicken salad. That was a good purchase. I always have to bargain hunt, use every coupon possible, and buy items on sale if at all possible. Gone are the days of unwatched spending. Money is tight.
My home too. I’m the queen of the coupons - miss the old days when the supermarkets would double and sometimes even triple them - haven’t seen that in years.
My local market also has gas points - 4X on Fridays so I always head over there to buy whatever large items I need. Got $1.00 off per gallon of gas last week and .60 cents per gallon this week - really adds up (I buy about 10 gallons at a time).
Hope you have a crop of zucchini coming in - so easy to grow, we get massive ones here, so many that neighbors beg us to take them.
