Skynet. Ultron. HAL-9000. These are but a few artificial intelligence systems that have gone rogue in films. Whether The Creator can produce a fictional AI that would make a mark on popular culture remains to be seen, but it is another movie that pits humanity against artificial intelligence. Its official website says the movie is about Joshua, an ex-special forces agent recruited to hunt down the Creator. That's the architect behind the advanced AI that was developed to protect humanity only to detonate a nuclear warhead in Los Angeles.
The Creator apparently also developed a weapon with the power to end all war and all of humanity, and Joshua and his team were tasked to destroy it. They then discovered that the world-ending weapon is an AI in the form of a young child. Of course, Joshua couldn't kill it and ended up taking it places and letting it do kid things like playing with other children. Is it evil or not? We don't know at this point. The trailer released by 20th Century Studios, New Regency and Entertainment One only shows the AI as a playful, inquisitive child.
The film was directed and conceptualized by Gareth Edwards, the same director behind Rogue One. John David Washington (Tenet) plays Joshua, the protagonist grieving the disappearance of his wife played by Gemma Chan. Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson and Allison Janney also play roles in the movie, which will arrive in theaters on September 29th.
I like horror movies, this one, this trailer...yeah, I do not think I want to go see this movie. This puts fear in my heart and tears in my eyes.
Gareth Edwards directed the best Star Wars movie since Disney took over. Dude is really good. This new film looks promising.
Timing on the release of this film is perfect.
We should ask the AI what’s the best way to get rid of political corruption in this country, then watch how fast our pols work to shut it down.
Glenn Beck was discussing some absolutely terrifying things that have already happened, through the use of AI... a woman received a phone call, sounded like her kid, then the phone was taken by her kidnaper, demanding ransom. Another was a young man’s phone call to his grandfather, supposedly from Mexico, where he was in a jam and needed $1000 to get him out of it. The grandfather sent the money. All done through AI. And apparently they only need three seconds of an audio sample of someone’s voice to make these recordings.
Man, it looks good. Guess white guys can’t be hero’s anymore can they.
How it different the the old 1970 movie
“colossus: the forbin project” ....
Colossus: The Forbin Project https://g.co/kgs/wuxGNm
The Forbin Project is the best rogue AI movie ever................kind of dated now though, should be updated with modern CGI...............
It sure is nice to see that the hero with the moral backbone to do the right thing is played by a black actor. You just don’t see that often enough these days. [/s]
I really enjoyed that movie.
When you see things like that as a kid, they stay with you.
I’m puzzled. Does not everyone with children/grand-kiddos have a “guard word” to stop this kid of fraud?
Sorry for their getting ripped off, but having a guard word is something we here at Bely Acres have doing for two generations....
Well, gotta say...I liked that the AI nuked L.A..
99% more action in a new one.
Look at present day Elon Musk. His push for all eclectic grid, global sat net, wired tech, etc etc isn't to help us wean ourselves from AI, but to help the AI takeover and integration.
Yeah, I forgot. We are the destroyers, so yeah, probably a white SUPREMACIST using oppressive non inclusive algorithms and non diversity programming.
And Joshua (Wargames)
And Colossus (The Forbin Project)
And Proteus (Demon Seed)
And Tau (Tau)
