CNN likely had more viewers of their town hall event with President Donald Trump Wednesday night than most of their regular shows combined. It was the first time I’d watched more than a clip from the network in years.
Knowing the advertising boom this brought for them, it was odd that they cut off the interview over 20-minutes longer than they had allotted. Congressman Matt Gaetz has a theory:
Did CNN cut it short because Trump was doing SO WELL? I’ve never seen a Town Hall get called like a “Mercy Rule” before. Did that really happen?

Of course, CNN would never admit to it. They’d likely not think of that way themselves. They would justify it by saying they didn’t want to give Trump a platform to “continue lying” or something like that. But other than a couple of unflattering responses, he handled the event spectacularly and came out looking like the Trump of old — unapologetic and ready to sit in the Oval Office.
Even radical Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agreed it was a debacle.

This was supposed to be a trap and CNN executives were giddy over the prospects of Donald Trump walking willingly into it. The reality ended up reminding me of a line from Watchmen (graphic): “None of you seem to understand. I’m not locked in here with you. You’re locked in here with me.”
Yep it seemed odd they would end it early. Have they given any official explanation for doing that? It gave more time for Jake Tapper and Van Jones and the gang to criticize Trump afterwards.
Trump did great. Judging by the reaction of incensed liberals he hit a grand slam.
You can bet your rent money that they had one of those instant opinion focus groups hidden somewhere, where a computer tracks their audiences reaction in real time.

Yep, based on the reactions of people, he did very well.
The liberals are pissed off, and some of the guys on talk radio are saying he hit it out of the park.
And what’s up with an interviewer constantly talking over Trump, and interrupting, and arguing with him?
Was she sent out there to moderate a town hall, or was she sent out there to argue with Trump, take him down, so to speak?

It was supposed to be a town hall, they could have let more people ask questions. CNN chose not to.

so viewers are supposed to be impressed by a CNN newsy confronting Trump with the facts? The same CNN that has repeatedly lied and misrepresented easily known facts in a 7 year jihad against Trump? I was amused, but not impressed
I bet if the audience would have been booing at all Trump’s answers, they would have let them ask more questions. CNN was not expecting the warm reception and applause 45 was receiving. I’m curious how those attending made the cut.

She is the same reporter who was kicked out of an event in the WH Rose Garden after she kept shouting questions at Trump during what was supposed to just be a photo op, not a press conference. So yeah, they probably picked her specifically because she is willing to be combative.
