A friend of mine suggested I try Netflix's new series; The Diplomat, with Kerri Russell, and Rufus Seawell.
It had an interesting plot and premise and tonight I decided to give it a try.
In the first 10 minutes of this show they had managed to find a way to include every Diversity Demographic possible, including what appeared to be a non-binary character.
Part of the plot concerns the President appointing a career Foreign Service official as the Ambassador to England, and she is female. As most know that plum job usually goes to a high political donor. In this case there is an international crisis and it is deemed necessary to have have someone with real experience in the job.
The next thing I found interesting was the Foreign Minister of England was black, not an impossibility of course, but it's more likely you would see someone of Indian or Middle Eastern descent given the demographics of a changing Britain. I may to need to check the makeup of Parliament to see what is it is these days.
It certainly has what you call a scent of Wokeness about it and I will have to at least watch episode 2 to see where it takes us.
Last night I watched the first two episodes of something promising on Amazon called The Citadel, good spy series.
I haven’t watched, The Diplomat. Rufus Sewell is a good actor and was great as the Black Prince in, “A Knights Tale”.
I watched the first two episodes of Citadel. Like it so far. I’m a Stanley Tucci fan
I liked Keri Russell in The Americans, but I don’t have Netflix, so I can’t see The Diplomat.
I’ll give The Citadel a try. Richard Madden is the lead in that and may be the favorite to be the next 007.
I have watched several episodes. While there is much to complain about with it’s liberal attacks, I am hooked and that is what n spite of knowing the ending. I need to see how they get there because it ain’t easy.
Aren’t most career diplomats traitors?
netflix is woke
no funding of woke
I watched the first episode of the Diplomat so far. I then watched an episode of the night angent and dang that is good! I prefer this much more.
We loved the Night Agent...I suspect it’s coming back for another season.
Netflix has been dead to me since they associated with the Obamas.
Thanks for the warning...I will avoid that series.
The day that the Brits have an Afro-negro for Prime Minister will be the end of the world.
I have gone back and forth with them over the years. Have it for a bit then drop it.
At one point so much that they showed was not very good, but in the last several months I have had it I find a lot of really good stuff on there. Peaky Blinders is certainly not Woke and fun to watch. Have enjoyed some series that are actually not bad.
Just about every streaming service has its share of Woke stuff and I try to avoid it. So I skip around, subscribing and then dropping services while looking for other things of interest.
That hasn’t happened yet, but probably will in some series. The Diplomat isn’t bad and and the plot is about war on Iran for an incident in the Persian Gulf.
Not giving netflix my money to support wokism.
“The day that the Brits have an Afro-negro for Prime Minister will be the end of the world.”
Hey, the series lost me with the idea of a female Ambassador. How much nonsense can a guy take?
You might look at some of the news items on Netflix over there.
It’s certainly woke, but not as bad as many shows, Netflix or otherwise. I do think it’s a little funny that they portray the POTUS as a senile doddering fool, whose female VP is resigning over corruption. POTUS is played by Michael McKean, aka “Lenny” from Laverne and Shirley, who also played Saul’s brother “Chuck” in Better Call Saul.
The show kind of lost me when Keri Russells character had her husband smell her under arm and “private area” to determine if she needed a shower before a meeting. My wife concurred, we don’t need to keep watching beyond episode 1.
“We loved the Night Agent...”
Yeah not to bad, creepy assassin couple finally got theirs.
