A teacher claims she was left 'humiliated' after being ordered to apologise to 11-year-olds at a private girls' school – for calling them girls.
Bosses at the £20,000-a-year school told the woman to deliver the mea culpa after her class complained that she had said 'good afternoon, girls' at the start of a lesson, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
After being told by the pupils that 'not everyone here identifies as female', she arrived in class the following day to find they had pointedly written their names and pronouns on the board, including one who used they/them.
They also held a lunchtime protest after she refused to acknowledge their demands.
Last night, the philosophy and religious education teacher spoke of her belief that she was 'managed out' by senior staff at the prestigious institution, which is part of the independent Girls' Day School Trust, but only after she was forced to publicly apologise.
=====
'I was told that they made placards with slogans on such as 'Trans lives matter',' she said.
'Before the end of the week I was in some sort of disciplinary process and the head of year was telling me I had to apologise to the girls.'
The teacher then described how she was accompanied by the head of year, who addressed the pupils while she stood to one side.
She said: 'She spoke to the children on my behalf saying no one here would want to hurt you and you're all really loved by us.
'She then worded the apology in terms of, 'I am sorry you're upset and we didn't mean to offend. I'm sorry you felt bad.' But it was all pretty humiliating and embarrassing.'

Should’ve gone with, “Good morning, you spoiled little bitches”.
That’s what I would’ve done.
Soon we will stoop to calling each other Comrades
Maybe she was just trusting the science.
Wait, if it’s a girls’ school, then should it just be girls in attendance?
BTW, back in the 1970s, my typing class teacher would address the class this way.
I was one of the only boys in the class so the teacher would often collectively address the class like we were all girls. I learned to deal with it and it didn't scar me for life or anything. I'm sure girls who went to woodworking shop in my high school had to deal with the same to some extent.
More and more the world is resembling one big Monty Python skit.
I’m glad she did not call them young ladies.
girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls,
Who the hell lets a bunch of 11 year olds run a school?
Tell them to sit down and shut up and remind them who’s in charge.
Good morning, hoes would be fine.
The left has made it impossible to be certain of the effect of one’s words. No longer can we be sure that a “good morning, girls” greeting will be a greeting for the young females in the room. We have to be thinking about each word we say, “good” - is that going to offend bad people?”, “morning” - is that going to make some people feel bad that their mornings are miserable?, “girls” will the boys who think they are girls be offended? what about the girls who think they are boys? Is girls a demeaning term used by evil male patriarchs to put women down? Should we be worried that we will offend some people by using a sentence with proper grammar? You know - those people who are allowed to speak gutter talk and still get promoted?
They have erected traps in every sentence, at every word, at every comma and period. Your intention doesn’t matter. If you don’t know that a word that you have used since childhood is now racist/sexist/homophobe/trannyphobe that’s your problem! You should know that both “ladies” and “ma’am” are now punishable by firing and/or arrest? even if they were perfectly OK 10 years ago. Tough! The rules have changed, and you are guilty with no recourse.
Yes that struck me too.
11 year old kids in a school make policy?
And what about the fact that this is a girl’s school? Isn’t everyone there by definition female?
And where in the sam hill do 11-year-old girls even get the idea ,,that there’s something wrong with addressing a class of girls by calling them girls?
My shop/drawing teacher was smart enough to say, “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen”.
Doesn’t the English care about English grammar?
You cannot pick “they/them” to be your pronouns because they are plural pronouns.
Should I assume the student has a multiple-personality disorder or some other kind of mental illness that prevents him/her to be an individual?
I kick the traps, and them challenge them to a dual.
OK, students, if you’re no longer identifying as a girl, you cannot attend an all-girls school. Good luck and now get out.
Then they should NOT be enrolled at a girls' school.
