ROBELINE, La. (KSLA) - A man from Florida is facing charges after reportedly leading police on a chase from Sabine Parish into Natchitoches Parish.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office says on Tuesday, April 4 around midday, deputies were involved in a chase on Highway 6 West involving a man on a motorcycle. Just before noon, the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office requested help chasing the man as he entered Natchitoches Parish.
Deputies joined the chase, which continued through Robeline, Hagewood, then onto the I-49 corridor to near Parc Natchitoches. Officials say the driver reached speeds of near 100 mph. He also had a dog with him on the motorcycle.
The suspect was taken into custody, and the dog was dropped off at the Sabine Humane Society to be housed until its owner is released. No injuries were reported.
It’s Florida. Who would bat an eye?
Now if it were a dog on a motorcycle with man, that might be newsworthy.
I’m sure it’s been tried, but it’s not advisable to let the dog go over 50, so it probably doesn’t lead to many prolonged police chases.
The dog was issued a warning by the police.
Is that equality or equity or something? Doesn’t sound like it. The dog probably had a higher IQ than Florida Man. The guy had a result “Test registers below standard low threshold. Re-test.”
I didn’t notice initially (I observe the spirit of the rules and only read after posting), but it is Florida man in Louisiana, so he was probably drinking while leading the police in the merry chase, but so long as he doesn’t blow over, it doesn’t matter, because Louisiana man kicks ass and won’t bat an eye.
Someday, i just know that there will be a crazy story about Iowa Man
He was doing what he wanted. Nobody was hurt or inconvenienced as best I can tell. So what’s the big deal?
We used to call that Liberty.
Why arrest someone just for exercising their liberties and enjoying life?
We used to call that Freedom.
I think you need to be farther west than Louisiana to get away with breaking 100 MPH in most circumstances (not that I haven’t—but one needs to be alert to a lot of things before trying it, and ready to pay the piper if one miscalculates). That goes double if you have out of state tags.
It doesn’t sound like the dog was the problem, but the dog did add some colour.
Did the dog have a helmet on?
“ Did the dog have a helmet on?”
********************************
Don’t know but he was UNLICENSED!
Now THAT is an image of FLORIDA NAN.
The 100 mph was during the chase. But what is the initial reason for arresting him?
Speeding? That’s a fine.
What, his Circle-K’s Sip-and-Save account isn’t valid in Louisiana?
He looks like a veteran to me. Celebrating his freedom and liberty.
They arrest him and took his dog. But for what?
Some people are accustomed to exercising their freedoms and liberties. Apparently, that’s not allowed in Louisiana.
Slippery slope ppl. When public officials aren’t accountable and the media supports it by not even mentioning the reason for detaining people we’re in trouble. What’s next 5am knocks and ppl disappearing?
You’re right. Freedom is something to preserve (what’s left of it here).
Side note—
Pam Dawber, the actress who played on Mork and Mindy (and Gibbs’ girlfriend his last year of NCIS) used to appear on TV ads advising people not to drive around in their pickups with their dog in the back. That was advice and a choice. Then.
Following that series of ads, states looked into passing laws about it.
California:
“In the case of a pet is transported in the open bed of pickup truck, California requires all animals to be restrained or contained, unless the space is enclosed. This does not mean simply leashing your dog down because the dog could fall out, be thrown out, or jump out and get dragged by the leash for miles. California requires any animal transported in the back of a vehicle “in a space intended for any load” to be cross-tethered to the vehicle or protected by a secured container or cage Vehicle Code section 23117 states. The animal does not have to be restrained if it is in an enclosed space or in a vehicle with side and tail racks at least 46 inches high.
This law does not apply to livestock or dogs being transported for ranching or farming purposes in rural areas. When tethering a dog in a truck bed, it’s best to use a harness rather than a collar that could choke.” pressenterprise.com San Bernardino, CA.
Where does Florida man fit in?
I apologize for my lack of HTML skill. Anyone wanting to, should repost this.

I got my eye on you and so does my dog Fluffball.
They should make an action figure of him, complete with dog.
Motorcycle sold separately.
Know the area well, having worked in Sabine and Natchitoches Parish wood products plants for many years. LA Hwy 6 is relatively straight and flat, but has lots of traffic. There’s a dog leg just north of Robeline that cuts your speed down to about 25 mph.
