“...New Madrid Fault...”
Yea, it’s past time for a shake. I’m old enough to still remember how to live without elec and most other modern conveniences but most aren’t so it will be a wild scene if anuything catastrophic happens. Of all the man made disasters that could befall us it is God’s natural disasters that worries me the most.
We got a taste of the no electricity bit in winter after the big mid-South 2009 ice storm. Luckily I was able to obtain a generator (Home Depot had a semi-load trucked in a couple days after the power went out.) We got reliable power back after, oh, I’m not sure — maybe 9-10 days or so. But we could hear neighbors just up the road running generators 3 weeks after the ice storm.
If New Madrid goes like it did last time (extended series of powerful quakes), I expect to have no power for months.
