Yep, for $15 I can get cold cuts and bread, enough for a sandwich for 5-7 days.
#6 What is a IQ?..... : )
My wife gets the $4.99 rotisserie Costco chicken just about every time we go to Costco and she loves them. Far cheaper and easier than cooking it herself.
She debones it and uses the meat in her salads and sandwiches and it lasts a few days.
Also the $1.25 hotdog and drink is the cheapest food you will find anywhere.
We need to be searching yard sales and flea markets for Depression era cookbooks. Our parents and grandparents learned to skimp by with a few staples during the Great Depression and our generation will have to as well during Biden’s Great Depression 2.
We’ve become a helpless people.
all of what you say is true, but i’d add a couple of caveats:
1. make sure the prepared food you buy is healthy
2. cooking yourself is especially valuable IF you have the both the time to cook AND find the time spent cooking a rewarding and creative endeavor ... the same thing can be said of any home repair activity as well vs. hiring and paying someone else to do it ...
“She debones it and uses the meat in her salads and sandwiches and it lasts a few days.”
totally ... and don’t forget to cook the chicken skin in the microwave until it’s crispy ... it’s such a delicious treat that we practically fight over it ... lay it out on a plate covered with parchment paper and cover with a paper plate ... cook in increments and test for crispiness each time to know when it’s done ...
“$10 a day or more for fast food is expensive.”
so-called fast-food is ridiculously expensive and almost always ridiculously unhealthy ...
“I think Hubby said Kudlow said it’s almost cheaper to eat out than to buy groceries — about a month ago.”
total BS ...
I know it’s BS, but I was hoping Hubby would fall for it, since Kudlow said it. (At 75 Y.O., I’m tired of cooking - LOL!)
And for every 10 people with an IQ of 130, there are 10 people with an IQ of 70.
“I can eat a nice meal at a restaurant for less than $150.00.”
I go out to eat virtually every meal and around $18 is the most I’ve ever paid. $7 is the average up from $5 a few years ago.
“so-called fast-food is ridiculously expensive and almost always ridiculously unhealthy ..._
That’s all I eat. $7 average meal cost. I’m not fat. Lab test results are great ...
Sad but true.
