Whatever these things are, they are real. Perhaps it is time to shoot one down and see what it is and who it came from.
I guess the sidewinders might have obliterated the evidence, but why would the military do that? And why didn't the military use a drone (the RQ-4 Global Hawk has a 60,000+/- ft max altitude)? A drone could have relayed some clear photos back to base.
Scuttlebutt is that the Roswell incident was caused by a burst of high energy radar on the UFO, intentional or otherwise, that brought it down.
There were two UFO’s that came down, one in anther area.
We have already established we can shoot down unidentified aircraft in our space so why not? In all these stories I have read, I've never read that we attempted to bring one down until the balloon fiasco.
Should not be hard to being one down or at least try.
We might have drones that are more illusion than mass now - but we didn't have that capability 65 - 70 years ago.
We have lots of these things hidden away in secret locations—most controlled by private contractors:

Supposedly, after WW II, the result of a general “shoot them down” order as to UFOs was a dramatic rise in civilian and military air crashes attributable to UFOs. Various reports have it that an accommodation was reached with a representative ET species that we would not interfere with ET activities in return for them not disrupting human activities or making their presence generally known. In secret, the US has since then led an effort to understand UFOs and their technology and develop the basis for effective countermeasures.
