We have a next door neighbor with dogs and i like counting the barks till they are let back inside. I’m a weird one!
Our dog used to jump on the back deck do be let back in - 80 pounds and you could hear him.
Until he got arthritis so bad in his front paw. Now he gives a quiet “woof”.
The only time he ever barks is if there is another animal in the yard (a few loud barks) or if a stranger comes up the drive/ sidewalk. He barks once or twice for the usual delivery guys setting something by the door (which is nice so I know it is out there) but a stranger (solicitor, etc.) he barks constantly (he’s inside the house).
My wife really worked with him.
