Signs of unrest surfaced almost immediately after the team's defeat Sunday Heartbroken fans reportedly swarming City Hall and clashing with police
Mayhem broke out in the City of Brotherly Love last night following the Philadelphia Eagles' narrow Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Signs of unrest surfaced almost immediately after the team's 38-35 defeat Sunday night - with disgruntled fans swarming City Hall and clashing with cops that had been stationed throughout the city in case of such an outcome.
Police scanner audio after 10:30pm suggested police had made multiple arrests, as citizens were seen scaling lampposts, chanting 'f*** the Chiefs', and hurling glass bottles throughout the city's Downtown neighborhood.
Footage circulating on social media also shows several residents lighting fireworks, with others egging on armed SWAT teams tasked with keeping the peace.
In one shocking clip, a group of Philadelphians were seen lighting fireworks, with some reports indicating the explosives are being thrown at officers.
Initial reports said that cops used tear gas to deter any further disruptions, but that turned out not to be the case.
The loss is compounded by the fact the city's baseball team, the Phillies, similarly crashed out of the World Series just a few months ago.

These people are idiots.
I’m glad KC won and Philly lost in that KC, to me, represents a more conservative city while Philly is deep blue commie.
:-) Found out about it here.
It’s nice to see a multiracial crowd where everyone is “protesting” the same thing. But what exactly are they protesting? A bad call? Their team made the super bowl and didn’t deliver?
I guess a group of them rolled a car/cars over outside of the stadium before the game.
Win or lose Philly was gonna burn.
Eagles fans threw snow balls at Santa Claus, evil people.
I didn’t follow one minute of this Super Bowl. Not this past two weeks of articles and interviews (other than seeing the title of the pushed article of having two black QBs for the first time - was even posted here). Not the pre-game, the page, the halftime show, or the post-game. Not any of the post-game videos or articles about the outcome (other than reading about “the call”). It was refreshing.
The real problem is that the Eagles let KC hang around and didn't put them away.
JAMBOG

“The City That Booed Santa Claus” — It’s time to drop the “Brotherly Love” thing.
There are no conservative cities in America today.
He was drunk and deserved it.
I don’t understand the mentality behind this behavior. Your team won or lost. So what? Finish your beer and go home. Rioting is not necessary.
Makes me glad I live somewhere that doesn’t have any major sports franchises. Boise State fans are mostly well-behaved.
Have they blamed the Eagles' loss on racism yet?
Now you understand why those of us in the rest of the Commonwealth of PA will root against Philadelphia even if they are playing against a team from New York.
