Single women own and occupy more homes than single men in the United States, despite earning only about 83 cents for every dollar that men earn, according to a new study.
The report, by the online lending marketplace LendingTree, analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau 2021 American Community Survey with one-year estimates. It found that 10.76 million U.S. homes were owned and occupied by single women, while 8.12 million were owned and occupied by single men. Single men were found to own and occupy a larger percentage of homes in only two states: North Dakota (about 13 percent, to 11 percent for single women) and South Dakota (12 percent to 11 percent).

Divorcees.......................
Be interesting to see those stats broken down by divorced and never married.
Divorced women usually have child support and sometimes alimony.
Divorced men are screwed.
But men are paying for them. Lol.
The rest of the money they just squander.
Yup.
Yep — she gets the house and he gets the outhouse.
That initial sentence sort of sounds like “women are richer than men, despite being poorer.”
Marriage Is GRAND But Divorce Is A HUNDRED GRAND..................
Women are more static
Makes sense
one of my buddies said it clearly,
“ I marry a woman that will eventually hate me and I buy her a house”.
God willing I’ve evaded that curse. I’m married 45+ years to just one wife now.
Not surprising.
It’s usually men who are “homeless”, anyway.
This was the correct answer. Single doesn’t factor prior marraige.
Thats what happens when women get alimony. And the guys get sucked dry to where they can only afford a 1 BR apartment.
That’s because a lot of them have so much useless stuff, they need an extra house to store it all.
The man pays off the house. The woman keeps it.
“earning only about 83 cents for every dollar that men earn,”
This is BS misleading deceit.
That implies that when I was an engineer, I was only getting 83 cents while my similar male colleague was getting 100 cents.
Total BS. Does not account for tons of things, including that women usually work in lesser jobs, when they do at all, often for good reason - raising the family directly.
There were very few times I ever thought I was treated with prejudice in my professional job. And sometimes when I did, I wasn’t sure if it was just that I was the sucker who got stuck with the hot potatoe.
Sorry to go off on tangent. Off the soapbox....
It would be insightful to see how many homes women own were previously owned by their husbands or owned jointly.
