I go to whichever thread I choose in order to read news items, and obviously I go through the comments (which is the entire point of this website). I am free to comment on what I see as the racist ramblings of certain members just as they are free to make such comments. I, unlike many others on FR, can disagree with people while still coexisting with them on this forum. I “monitor” nothing on this forum. Do I report abuse? Not very often, but I have in the past.

There are several issues I do not agree with the majority here and i just skip those articles.
