Besides my goofy rescue greyhound, I’ll be solo this Christmas Eve. All is well. Had some solid family time with my kids last night, and will be with family tomorrow.
But, for now, I’m enjoying a salted caramel latte, basking in the glow of the Christmas tree lights and about to plug George Bailey and company into the old Blu-ray player.
Anyone else spending this Christmas Eve alone?
I may have to watch that tonight.
Yep. Same here. This will be my 2nd Christmas alone. And like Skooz my mother and girlfriend both passed last summer (2021). Christmas just isn’t the same. Last year was pretty tough but I got through it. This year isn’t so bad. Have planned out things to do and see today and tomorrow:
Helped prepare breakfast/lunch and handed out blankets to the homeless this morning;
Going to church choir concert tonight;
Church in the morning, followed by lunch at my local Denny’s and then maybe a trip to the movie theatre. Haven’t been to one of those in 4 years.
Yes I will be alone, I will be calling family in the morning, and cooking up a Christmas ham dinner for one
Making pies and cinnamon rolls. Listening to Steve Bannon’s Revolutionary War Christmas special. Cooking dinner tomorrow for the family, my sister and brother-in-law.
With wifey on a tear tonight.....sure wishing I was alone. Ya know....marriage.
Yes I will. My best friend and partner died 4 weeks ago and without her here this is a lonely house. We were together 27 years and they were happy, rarely a disagreement or even an argument about anything. We were as close as two people can be and existed in our own world and now she is gone. I have my memories and I guess they will now have to do.
Good Bless all who are alone and Merry XMAS!
I spent some Christmas Eves alone.
Well, without family.
Whenever I’d start to feel blue, I would just sing some of my favorite songs.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost peeing on your toes
Or
Muskrat Susie and Muskrat Sam
Saw me with my shotgun and they both said damn
He’s a crack shot
We’ll be in the stew pot
Or
You put your left foot in
You put your left foot out
You put your left foot in
And you kick em in the snout
Ahhhhh…..
Those were simpler times.
OOOHHH!!! I love that sweater.
“....then going to watch, ‘Die Hard’ which is TRADITION.”
___
Us as well! LOL! It doesn’t feel like Christmas unless you have watched DIE HARD!
I realize the celebration is a lot more than such silly traditions, and of course, Die Hard actually has nothing to do with a true Christmas. I do celebrate our Lord and Savior’s birth and am so thankful for his sacrifice.
However, DIE HARD is just too good to miss!
Know how you feel, I am in the same situation after 27 years.
It's one wife too many.
You know what monogamy is?
It's one wife too many. But I love her just the same as if she sane.
This church is right near where I work. I'm going over there on Tuesday. That will be my Christmas.
If into rock guitar music, Joe Bonamassa is giving away an MP3 Christmas album (email required to send the album download link...he sends out an email about once a day...”unsubscribe” later if needed):

Merry Christmas.
Spent four hours on (four off) guard detail one Christmas.
It was cold and raining.
In a place far far away.
5.56mm
This should make you laugh!
My girlfriend is at her sister's.
The three of us did lunch at Applebees yesterday.
So basically, I'm fine.
After the chicken and whatever, I've decided to bake
some kind of goodie.
Either blueberry or corn muffins.
Maybe brownies - hmmm....
I'm going to skip candlelight church service this year.
(It's 12 degrees out there - Brrrrrrr.)
Merry Christmas to All!
I got left behind alone because I’m watching the dogs while everyone else in my family goes up north. I was planning to go with them for at least 6 mos. But was told the dogs would not be welcome at my kids in-laws house, (even though other dogs are going to be allowed) so they would have to stay cooped up in the hotel the whole weekend. That’s pretty hard and cruel on them, and I have to say it’s pretty selfish of them since they have a small backyard and they are very good dogs.
So I volunteered to stay home with them. So it’s just me and the two mutts for all weekend. Here’s the kicker, they’re my kids dogs, not even mine. But I do love em’ like my own so here I stay.
Been there.
Yeah, it’s peaceful here. Now.
I’ve got my two Chows with me, so I don’t really feel alone at all, but no people.
