For those with kids, grandkids - or just the young at heart- here is the official Norad Santa Tracker. At this writing, it will commence in a little less than 11 hours.

Fun story as to how the Norad Santa Tracker began:

Thanks
My kids and I would follow this every year.
Great memories!! Thx.
Every Christmas Eve, about 10 minutes after I put my kids to bed, I would go outside their bedroom windows and shake sleigh bells.
Years later, my son told me when he started school, all his Jewish friends kept telling him that there was no Santa but those bells kept him believing there was!
Santa is a wonderful invention to please every child.
Yes. My husband and I were talking about it the other night, and I asked him if he was disappointed to learn that there was not really a Santa. He said no, because that was the year he got to stay up late and help make Christmas for his little sisters. He thought that was even better.
He is still crazy about Christmas - and we both still believe in Santa.
The magic of Christmas. I distinctly remember as a child, looking out my bedroom window on Christmas Eve and seeing a red light crossing the sky. I knew it had to be Rudolph.
I think I saw the Easter Bunny once - I was about 4 years old. He was about 6 feet tall, and climbed through a bedroom window with a basket on his ‘arm’.
True Story.
This “Santa Tracking” put the scares into us back in 1962. We had just come off the threat of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October in which we did not know if the US would last till Christmas due to Nuclear War!
Then it all blew over but we were still on edge.
On Dec 24, TV programing was broken into with the warning that NORAD had detected something incoming over the DEW line!
Was it Russian Missiles? Was this the end of the USA? All the stresses of October returned!
Then they showed a chintzy illustration of Santa and sleigh with cotton ball clouds floating by.
We didn’t know whether to be relieved that was all it was or upset for the return of stresses from that October.
That is one year they could have forgotten about Santa.
That was my uncle Harvey lol
I want to say that back in the 1970’s there were radio announcements well before Dec 24. Something like “a jolly old man filed a flight plan, blah, blah, blah.”
Hey, it’s True!
I had a supervisor some years ago who swore that she had seen Santa when she was small.
Who knows what goes on in the minds of very little kids...
Terrific! I sent to others with kids/grandchildren. I think it will be appreciated!
Sorry about that. But I suspect it’s given more fun and joy than scares, over the decades.
Ahh, I put my husband’s snow boots in the ashes of the fireplace and made the boot prints go out into the room. And I did the sleigh bells trick, too. And I took bites from many cookies (and a few whole ones), and drank the milk or cocoa halfway down. I really wanted my kids to believe. And they were convinced. For quite a while.
