Comfort, celebrity endorsements and its iconic look are the driving forces behind the revival of Crocs, say designers.
Remember Crocs, the chunky rubber slip-on dotted with ventilation holes? They are becoming popular again - on red carpets and in supermarkets alike.
“Personally, I used to hate it. But I loved how open, willing, and adaptable the brand is,” said fashion educator and creative consultant Rio Furqan Saini.
“At its core, and let’s be honest, it’s an ugly pair of rubber slides. But ugly is subjective.”

I generally don’t wear them out in public, but they’re great light duty gardening, puttering around the house or garage shoes. I might wear them out if I’m just running into the hardware store for an item or three.
Ahem!
They’re making shoes out of crocodiles?
Good.
Let’s start making some gator shoes.
I think it’s a three-way-tie between Crocs, Uggs and Vibrams for the title of: “most hideous footwear ever invented”
Crocs are ultimately practical for a lot of occasions…I love them…
Mine are parked by the door wear them outside.
Me, too.
However, now when I do go out, it’s only to Walmart or the hardware store or Tractor Supply.
So I guess I wear them pretty much everywhere.
If I go to dinner (rarely) or to the doctor, I’ll wear loafers.
The best part of retirement is not needing fancy footwear.
Crocs are ugly, and comfortable and cost a reasonable amount and are damn near bullet proof. My friends do not wear Gucci.
If you have foot issues they are a healing shoe
They make a decent shower shoe too.
I just wore mine out to haul the trash can (herby-curby) out to the street. It has been raining here, so a rubbery plastic easy on, easy off shoe is perfect. No holes in these, so warmer/drier than the summer version. I have a pair of those, too.
You obviously haven’t seen KEEN footwear. One of my former coworkers insisted on wearing their sandals in the summer to work. Vomit worthy.
Ugly chic or ugly chick?
Was Croc ever NOT popular since they put it out?
Geesh people don’t stop - including my husband and now our son.
I supply the women of my life those Dr.Schols sandals from the 70’s. They love them and I always hear them coming so they can’t sneak up on me. They are getting ever increasing hard to find and very expensive. Real wooden soles and leather straps.
Women in comfortable shoes .....
I think they’re hard as a rock and wouldn’t wear them if they were free
So ugly and so awesome, especially for kids who play outside when it’s muddy!
Because they’re very comfortable and easy slip on or off. Perfect summer or beach footwear. They seem very popular with hospital personnel too.
