Climate lockdowns incoming: only “three years” to flatten the emissions curve.
The writing was on the wall as soon as the “experts” declared “two weeks to flatten the curve.” Some of us saw right through the scheme, while the less-astute did not. We recognized the move was one against freedom and prosperity rather than for our welfare, and knew it was not only for two weeks. We knew that if the ruling class was allowed to follow through with their “lockdown” agenda — the forced closure of private businesses, dictating who was “essential” and who was “non-essential” — then greater tyranny would follow.
However, “told ya so” is bittersweet.
Well, the next phase is here (like we knew it would be), and it’s the climate lockdowns. According to Gizmodo:
Short flights won’t take off across France anymore, so long as there’s an efficient train line that can connect commuters from point A to point B. In an aggressive effort to lower the country’s emissions, France has banned flight routes for locations where connecting train service would only take 2.5 hours or less.
According to Electrek:
France has received the green light from the European Commission to start cracking down on ultra-polluting short-haul flights within the country, starting with a ban on three popular flights from Paris-Orly Airport.
And:
The new ban will be valid for three years [emphasis added], after which it will need to be reassessed by the EC.
‘This is a major step forward and I am proud that France is a pioneer in this area,’ France’s Transport Minister Clément Beune said in a statement.
Furthermore, EU climate campaigner Thomas Gelin referred to the move as a “baby step” but nonetheless a step “in the right direction.”

The climate hoax has always been an excuse for government control of the means of production (energy).
The left is destroying everything and if you complain you’re a racist. Has to stop but it might not.
Leftist media is a threat. Ever hear anyone attempting to take over media companies the way Elon bought twitter?
Nope.
Banning flights is 💩. But. To be fair, I will drive anything that math tells me is about the same as flying+ all the associated TSA and other inconveniences that go with it. I might consider a train if Amtrak didn’t run like a Ferris wheel and stop every 10 minutes.
Or have hours-long layovers in the middle of the night in crime-ridden major metros...
Or that. But I’m jaded that my only real Amtrak experience was trying to get from NM to VA 2 days after 9/11. In hindsight I should have just kept the rental car and started driving about 1000 local on 9/11.
Wow, Oxford climate lockdown for cars.
It doesn’t take long to drive anywhere in the country and they have great train service.
That is not an excuse for tyranny.
.
20 years ago I took Amtrak cross-county -
from Reno, NV to Philadelphia 30th street station.
(California Zephyr to Chicago, Three Rivers train to Philly.)
Only took 3 days.
But the lounge car ran out of turkey club sandwiches - because I ate them all.
Take Amtrak only if you are into extreme boredom - and in no hurry.
After which it will be determined that nothing changed (the ban was not effective) and concluded that the ban didn't go far enough.
Are politicians and the rich who both have private jets excluded?
climate control
they pretend to try to control the climate in order to control you
we have the power
we just have to choose to use it
cut the cable tv
Or be a magnet for smelly, trashy, rude, annoying, human garbage.
Just did Amtrak on the Capitol Limited and it was an experience. People talk with no regard to anyone else. People burp, eat loudly, smell like weed, talk on the phone, and snore. Not pleasant.
Let’s briefly break this down. Don’t let any crisis go to waste succinctly states it. Any crisis, real or perceived, now requires change. We are told that change is good. It’s progress after all. But note, change has an emerging pattern. It’s less choice. With COVID, therapeutics were cast aside for an experimental gene therapy. And as the article states, businesses were cast aside as nonessential. Less choice. Now in France, short flights are cast aside. Different crisis, same pattern. Less choice.
This can only be accomplished by silencing opponents. Climate change already have built-in censorship. If you disagree, you are a climate denier and your perspective is meaningless. If ridicule doesn’t achieve the goal of censorship, all that is required is government colluding with social media platforms and the press.
The real crisis is less freedom. You can’t choose therapeutics for COVID and you can’t choose short flights for travel. That is the freedom to choose and it can only be imposed by eliminating the freedom of speech. It may not be superficially obvious, but freedom of speech is fundamental to progress, in the good sense of the word, not the leftist. Speech is the laboratory of ideas and change. Experiments in the laboratory are conceived in the mind and in collaboration with others. Most importantly, those experiments are abstract tests that require only hypothetical change. It’s not concrete and the cost is low. Many options can be concurrently evaluated without destruction. The better ideas can be tried, and when a free market exists the winning idea or ideas can prevail because people can choose what benefits them.
Antiprogress is predicated on perceived crisis, requiring change through imposed control that eliminates choice and censorship that eliminates alternatives and dissent. You have less freedom and fewer choices. When taken to extremes there is no progress. True creativity no longer exists. Viable innovation and invention rarely occurs. New life improving products and technologies are not available. All of that happens as proven life improving products and technologies are eliminated. Choices are removed. Antiprogress is regression.
We are at the dawn of the next dark age.
.
Go for it!
