Los Angeles may be considered an "urban jungle" but a Woodland Hills family is shaken up after their toddler was attacked by a coyote outside their home.
“I heard her screaming and crying and I thought she fell down and I saw the coyote was there,” Ariel Eliyahuo, the toddler’s father, said.
The child’s parents are now concerned not only for their children but for other children in the neighborhood.

I feel bad for the family, but the coyote is probably hungry..After all, between humans and fire on their turf ,it is getting harder for them to find food....

They’ve been killing pets in their yards here in southern Arizona.
Coyotes don’t have trouble finding food. Humans that size are right in their prey wheelhouse.
My question is why is a 2 yr old outside without mom? Coyotes aren’t the only predators around.
A dog was killed by a coyote right in front of the sweet little old lady up the street a few years ago. She was right next to her beloved little dog in her back yard when it happened. It was so sad.

She wasn't. The video shows that the little getting out of the SUV while the father was getting groceries out. The coyote ran up and grabbed the little girl right by the father.

I have seen them in downtown Albuquerque waiting for a break in the traffic so they can cross it street safely.
Ah got it. It looked like the coyote was used to humans.
Think of coyotes as giant rats and the solution instantly becomes clear.
Trouble is, you kill one, and another moves right into his now-up-for-grabs territory. Better to make the coyote afraid of humans and afraid of coming anywhere near your house. Once you have “trained” the coyote who has staked out your neighborhood as his territory, you’re better off with him than a newcomer who has no qualms about coming near people and houses.
coyote was most likely rabid- healthy ones don’t have trouble finding food- even in cities- some parks near cities have packs that live there- you can hear them howling and yipping at night- also0- it isn’t their turf- God created the world for animals AND mankind
That coyote must have been sick. It just stood there while the father scooped up his daughter just a few feet away. Rabid coyotes or those who have lost their fear of humans must be exterminated.
Odd this article popping up this evening as I just took out a big male late this afternoon.
There’s been several of em hangin’ around here for awhile now, but this big fella was a bruiser....no mistaken him. Our neighbor up the road lost their house cat to him a couple of weeks ago. Their security camera verified most of it.
From past hunts, I kinda had a feeling for the trail they were probably using so I got in my old brush stand with my squeaky hurt rabbit call and gave it a try.
Sure enough, 5 minutes hadn’t gone by, and three of em, including the big fella, show up at the edge of the field, but they’re real cautious and wanting to get downwind of where I’m at.....bad mistake. When the big fella crossed my 125 yard marker, he was making “intimate love” to a 50gr Nosler BT.
I lived NW of there for many years. A moe rural area, but the coyotes I sometimes saw in the morning were fairly well fed.
Lots of rat dogs I suppose, like the neighbor that left theirs out to bark most of the night. Gone in the morning. They tried to insinuate I had something to do with it.
Predators such as wolves and mountain lions tend to disappear when humans move into their habitat. But coyotes not only thrive in proximity with humans, but their habitat has expanded. They are now even found in places like Vermont.
My friend lived in Arizona years ago and went outside with her small dog so he could pee, and a coyote came and snatched him up before she could let out a scream for her husband to help....
