That’s very true, and it’s something that shouldn’t be ignored or simply explained away. After all, he held a veto pen for four years. Trump never worried much about deficits, and that bothers me.
But except for Rand Paul, no one in DC worries about deficits. So Trump was certainly not unique in that regard.
I think it was because Trump is a debt guy. When you can borrow at near 0%, you do. Not saying it’s right, but it’s the way guys like Trump think.
Banker acquaintance, “When I was in high school my uncle was ranting and raving about Reagan not curbing spending and how the deficits would cause a depression, now over 30 years later deficits have been a standard and only for a few years under Clinton was there a technically balanced budget. The deficit peril has become the laughing stock of bankers and finance.”
